■작가 소개■
E.D 비거즈, S.S 반다인, 앨러리 퀸등과 함께 미국 본격 황금 시대를 대표하는 본격 추리 작가의 한 명으로 거론되는 작가.

대학을 졸업의 뒤 다양한 일자리를 전전한 후,1931년 처녀작 「펭귄은 알고 있었다」를 발표하고 좋은 평판을 얻게되어 이후에는 전업의 작가가 되어 활약한다.
주로 중년의 여교사 힐데가르 위자즈를 주인공으로 하는 작품을 계속 발표했으며 1963년에는 같은 미국의 여류 본격 작가인 클레이그 라이스와의 합작으로 「위자즈＆마론 재판」이라고 하는 단편집도 발표해 성공을 거두고 있다.

힐데가르 위자즈의 시리즈는 국내에서는 출판 된바 없는 것으로 여겨진다.
스튜어트 파머의 작품은 단편인 초록빛 얼음이라는 작품이 세계 공포 초특급/스티븐 킹 이라는 단편집에 포함되어 출판되었다..
