SF 펄프 매거진 갤러리 - CAPTAIN FUTURE①

펄프 매거진 캡틴 퓨처는 1940년부터 출간된것 같은데 에드먼드 해밀턴의 캡틴 퓨처만 단행본 잡지 형식을 출간한 것을 여겨진다.

◆작가소개: 에드먼드 해밀턴 Edmond Hamilton (1904 ~ 1977)
1904년 미국에서 출생. 펜실베이니아에서 물리학을 전공. 15세에 대학에 입학한 천재였으나 중퇴하고, SF를 쓰기 시작했음. 1926년 Weird Tales 에 처음 데뷔. 스페이스 오페라를 잘 썼다. "캡틴 퓨쳐" 시리즈, "달들의 왕", "허공의 유산", "백만 년 후의 세계" 등 380 여편이 있음. SF작가인 리이 브랙킷 Leigh Brackett과 결혼했다

◆작품해설(아이디어회관 sf 해설중에)

...미국에서는 지금부터 50년 전쯤 - 1920년대 중반부터 SF가 매우 유행하기 시작했습니다.
그 때의 SF는 옛날부터 있었던 모험 소설과 과학적 ·우주적 재미있는 것을 결합시킨 것이 많고, 특히 대우주를 무대로 하여 영웅이 대 활약하는 것을 쓴 소설이 크게 유행했습니다.
이러한 SF를 스페이스 오페라(우주 대활극)라고 말했습니다만, 이 소설의 작자 해밀턴도 그 때 가장 인기 있는 작가였습니다.
해밀턴은 많은 스페이스 오페라를 썼습니다.그는 세계가 태양의 폭발이라든지, 우주 전쟁의 결과 파멸 1보 전에 있는 그러한 소설을 잘 썼습니다. 그래서 '세계의 파괴자 해밀턴'이라는 별명을 얻었습니다.이 소설 「싸우는 미래인」은 그러한 그의 스페이스 오페라 중에서도 특히 인기 있는 '캡틴 퓨쳐 시리즈' 중의 하나로 쓴 것입니다.
훌륭한 과학자이며 더욱이 강한 영웅 캡틴 퓨쳐, 그 부하에 로봇의 클라크, 합성 인간의 오토, 그리고 캡틴 퓨쳐의 의논 상대인 위대한 과학자인 뇌뿐인 학자 사이먼 박사 -이러한 재미있는 구성의 퓨처맨들이 지구의 위기와 다른 행성이 위태로울 때 출동하는 대활약의 결과, 무사히 사건을
해결하고 세계를 구제합니다.이 시리즈는 그 때 SF 팬들에게 대단한 기쁨과 즐거움을 주었습니다. 그 중에서도 이 소설은 우주 모험과 태양계가생겨날 때의 상황을 시간 여행과 잘 조화시켜, 진지하고 흥미에 찬 작품으로 인기가 있습니다....
