황금 나침반. 환타지물의 대명사라 할 수 있는 작품이다. 총 3부작으로 이 책은 그 3부작중에서도 제 1권. 비록 소설로 읽어보지는 못했으나 나에게 환타지의 최고를 보여주었다. 영화로 보았을 때에도 충분히 훌륭해 직접 글로 읽어보면 참 좋겠다는 생각이 들었다. 그러나 한글보다는 영어로 읽어보는 게 더 좋지 않겠냐는 어머니의 제의에 한 번 읽어보기로 했다. 그러다가 3부까지 모두 질러버렸고, 의외로 얇은 줄 알았으나 어려운 한글책만큼의 분량에 입이 쩍 벌어졌다. 그렇지만 그 전에도 영어책을 열심히 읽었던 덕분인지 의외로 술술 넘어갔다. 물론 걸린 시간은 엄청나게 길었지만 말이다. 아마 몇주를 이 책을 읽기위해 투자했을 것이다...(물론 몇 주일을 모두 읽는데 투자한 것은 아니다. 이 두꺼운 책을 읽기 싫어서 며칠동안 멀리하기도 했기 때문이다.)그럼에도 불구하고 영어책으로 읽는 것만으로도 나에게 충분한 기쁨이 되었었다.
이 책을 읽고나서는 바로 해리포터를 읽어볼 계획. 물론 2권, 3권도 약간씩은 기대는 하지만 아직까지는 너무나 두꺼워서 먼저 해리포터부터 도전해보아야겠다는 생각이 들었다. 그렇지만 아직까지 다 읽지 못했던 황금나침반을 먼저 읽어야 하는법! 어려웠으나 막상 다 읽었을 때에는 행복감이 온 몸 가득으로 밀려들어왔다. 어려운 책 한 권을 끝낸 기분이 이런 거였구나, 하고 오랜만에 느껴보았다.
Do you want to know the story? Well, I know almost of you know what this story about. But I can explain this, This story is about Golden Compass, of course! The Golden Compass is the map. Only someone can use this, and Lyra is that. Lyra, the cute girl. But she is orphan. She live in the university, who her uncle work there.
The story's start was this. Lyra's uncle, Lord Asriel found Dust in the North Pole. Dust is a thing that can make to go to the other world. You know, our world doesn't have Daemon, but in Lyra's world, there is Daemon. Almost are same but In the other world, there have some different.
And Lyra's advanture start by Mrs. Coulter. Mrs. Coulter is a beautiful woman, but she going to steal Lyra's Golden Compass. Golden Compass can teach you everything what you want. So many people want to have this. Mrs. Coulter is one of them, too. A precious thing must in kind people's hands. Like if nuclear bomb is in the Bad's hand, it can kill all of the people. Even it can destroy the earth. It is same! If the Golden Compass in the bad's hand, It can give the world only disaster.
I have a question! Why people oposition at Dust? They know it is existence, but they don't want to identification at that. I can't understand. Even now there is a lot of precedent like that. Christian and the others fight and don't identification at the other. We must realize cooperation and understand is the only to live.
I didn't understand all the story, but I want to read the next book. It's not false, real! Because I love all of the book. Parents says eat all the food, and we must read all the book, too!(Except bad books.) What is happening, now? What is the next story? Will the Golden Compass will in the Bad's hands? Only the reader and writer know that!
