I really adore this author. I read her book "Can you keep a secret?" and wanted to read more.
The protagonist Samantha is a hotshot lawyer with a photographic memory!! who is a horrific workaholic.
The day that she finally gets her dream fulfilled as partner of her law firm she realizes that she has made THE MISTAKE of her career, which gets her fired.
She's so shocked that she just wanders into this suburbian neighborhood and works at a house as a maid(wearing the uniform and curtsying as well;;;)
The events folding and the psychological progress and conflict Samantha must endure is sooo real. I can really relate to her...especially when she says she'd rather clean loos than be a partner at Carter Spinx. The everyday pressure all working elites must endure is unthinkable.
I applaud Samantha for getting off the train to London and finding real love and a rich fulfilling life.
But on the other hand I'd like to give my 120% at something - that i'm really good at and successful before realizing what Samantha did.
All in all it was a witty and fun book to read over the holidays!
