다시 읽으니 어린 왕자의 이야기가 참 슬프다. 어린 왕자가 장미를 사랑한다는 사실을 뒤 늦게 깨달았다.
고향별을 떠나 6개의 별을 여행하고 지구에 오고 나서야 자신이 사랑한 장미에게 돌아갈 마음을 먹는다.
아마도 장미는 죽었을 것이다. 혼자 살기에는 어려운 환경이었으니까.
어쩌면 어린 왕자는 장미가 죽은 걸 알지 않았을까? 그래서 스스로 죽음을 선택하지 않았을까?
그렇다고 이게 슬픈 얘기는 아닌 것 같다.
주옥 같은 문장들이 넘쳐난다.
In those days, I didn't understand anything. I should have judged her according to her actions, not her words. she perfumed my planet and lit up my life. I should never have run away! I ought to have realized the tenderness underlying her silly pretensions. Flowers are so contradictory! But I was too young to know how to love her! (p.24~25)
