He raises his eyebrows. "Because that‘s not who we are."
He pulls me into a side-armed hug and reaches out, taking ahandful of dirt. He opens his palm. The dirt sifts through hisopen fingers; some falls to the ground, some blows away in thewind. A tiny gray rock is all that‘s left in his hand. - P64

"Who says what a rock is worth?" He hands me the tiny graystone. "When my project is complete, what you and I have gath-ered will be more valuable to me than the Hope Diamond." - P65
