마젤란, 딱 이름에서 느껴지죠.. 포르투칼의 유명한 항해가이자 탐험가였던 마젤란의 이름에서 따온거라는거요. 인도의 향신료를 유럽에 알린 것으로도 유명하죠.. ㅋㅋ
1521 모델은 마젤란의 업적을 기리기 위해서 명명된 겁니다요. 죽은 년도.. 그렇다면 추모 기념이라고 해야 할 꺼 같네요.. 역시 호랭이는 죽어서 가죽땡이를 남기고, 사람은 죽어서 이름을 남기는군요.. 부럽당~

Magellan Watch SA is named after Ferdinand Magellan (±1480-1521), the famous Portuguese navigator and explorer. Filled from an early age with a passion for the great voyages of discovery, Magellan conceived a daring plan to reach the Indonesian spice-islands taking a westerly course from Europe.
A tribute to adventurers
It was said that the Emperor Charles V ruled an empire on which the sun never set. Magellan Watch’s “model 1521” - the number refers to the year in which Magellan’s expedition reached its objective - commemorates this motion by its sun-dial hand which indicates the position of the sun over the earth at any given time.
A challenge to established design standards
The high-end mechanical watch market has seen over the past decades some important technological developments. Remarkably, the designs, with a few notable exceptions, did not evolve to the same extent; indeed many models in this segment are copies of successful 1940’s and 50’s designs.
시계 2가지 모델이네요.. 북반구와 남반구.. 아무래도 지구를 반토막내다 보니... 시계인데.. 어찌 보면 꼭 UFO 같기도 하죠. 특히 옆에서 보면요.
에고.. 근데.. 암만 봐도 호주 사는 사람 아니면 남반구 디자인은 별로 안나가겠네요.. 오른쪽 금색 부분.. 진짜 금 도금이랍니다. 제 경우는 이 시계 보면서.. 이거 차구.. 세계 일주나 한번 해봤음 좋겠다라는 생각이 드네요.. 여러분은 무슨 생각이 드시는지요..
