 DigitalGlobe satellite images released on December 30, 2004 show the shoreline area of Banda Aceh on northern Sumatra in Indonesia, before and after the devastating tsunami that struck Asia. The top image shows the area on June 23, 2004 while the image below shows the area on December 28, 2004, with considerable damage. The death toll in the Indian Ocean tsunami disaster soared above 125,000 on Thursday as millions scrambled for food and clean water and rumours of new waves sent many fleeing inland in panic.
