톰 웨이츠의 노래를 생각했다.
그 곡은 'All the world is green'
내가 처음으로 기억하는 톰 웨이츠의 곡은 '왈칭 마틸다'의 멜로디가 선명했던 곡
Tom Traubert's Blues 이다.
그의 명반 'small change' 의 첫 곡이다.
나는 이 곡을 들었을 때 살짝 눈가에 물이 맺혔다. 왠지 이유는 모르겠다.
가사도 잘 모르는데 후렴구 처럼 등장하는 '왈칭 마틸다'를 부르는 톰 웨이츠의 목소리때문에
그랬다.
나는 가끔 내가 조울증의심을 한다.
그런데 맞는거 같다.
아티스트가 되었으면 이 조울증을 작품으로 승화시켰을텐데
평범한 생활인으로
남아서 평생 '방임과 통제' 사이에서 싸운다. 이것도 '일상' 이어서 감사할 따름이다.
