DoenJang is bad but only momentarily.Many foreigners can come to find it palatable over time, but it is still objectionable in the workplace (for westerners).
된장은 잠깐은 고약하지만, 시간이 지나면 외국인들도 꽤 맛있게 느낄 수 있다. 그렇다 해도 직장 같은 곳에서는 여전히 서양인에게 불쾌한 냄새로 여겨진다.

그런데 된장의 사나운 사촌인 청국장은 이야기가 다르다. 한 번만 맡아도 고개를 젓게 되고, 두 번째 냄새를 맡게 되면 “다시는 맡고 싶지 않다”고 외치게 될 정도다.
