Could you believe 290 people were died in the deep sea?
No, I couldn't. I believed they would be rescued. Because the accident happened in the adjoining seas of our Korea, not in the remote ocean. It is a typical Korean disaster. And sadly enough constantly has it been repeated itself in this country.
On April 16, 2014, Dannwon highschool students were excited about their school trip. there was a family moved to a new house in Jeju. But their happiness and smile have fallen into the dark sea.
Today is the 64th day after 290 people left us. The sadness of people turned into anger soon. Now, the anger is waning. We are forgetting it. But we should not forget this accident. We should never be still anymore,
The Sewol accident wasn't an unannounced mishap. Sewol was dangerous from the start. Chonghaejin Marine refurbished a ship which has been run for 18 years in Japan and named it Sewol. Since they bought the ship at a low price in Japan, they could make a lot of money. In the process of remodelling, there were somethings against the law. They shifted 3 billion won in the converting process to get more profit. This is not the end. Sewol should have been disappeared three years ago. But they had been extending deadline for 10years to use the ship cheaply. Besides they enlarged rooms, in order that they could earn 8 millions won of profits whenever Sewol departured. This ship whose every thing was in danger loaded a overburdened freight. There was 2000t overloaded cargo, therefor Chonghaejin Marine could earn the shipping costs 8million won. The overloaded freights were not bounded well. In Contrast, ballaster water was used only a quarter of the usual. Marine's desire, making money, made the ship Sewol too dangerous.
Finally, the ship which was full of corruption disappeared into the dark sea. After the accident the attitudes of sailors were criticized. Because the crewmen escaped from the sinking ship for the first. Behind their selfish action, there was a problem of the sailor's education. Korea's sailor educational expenses are only 540thousand won a year, While, Chonghaejin used over 60million won for giving bribes. In some ways, I think the skipper's selfishness is a natural result in according to the system of the management.
The Korean news about Sewol show us the death benefits, money that the victims' guardians will get. But foreign news demonstrated us how much time the passenger can survive in the deep sea.
It's Korea. The money is more important than the lives. I think that Sewol disaster was a warning for the generation of materialism.
In this situation, we can't skip the trouble of Gori Nuclear Power Plant. Operation of the Reactor-1 at Gori Nuclear Power Plant in Busan was resumed recently. The government decided to restart the nuclear reactor which was made in 1978. The reactor's design life was 30 years to 2008. But the government extended more 10 years to 2017 saying it is still safe.
Can you believe that it's safe? No, I can't believe. Why the government restarted the dangerous nuclear? That's right. If we don't restart Gori, they will pay a lot of money for that. This decision have a big risk. It won't finish with the death of 290 people.
The government is playing a game in security for their nation to earn more money.
We should never be still anymore. We shouldn't follow them who are blind with love of money.
