피터 드러커의 오랜 친구이자 동료인 Joseph A. Maciariello 교수의 제안과 원고 선별에 의해 만들어진 이 책은 피터 드러커의 수많은 저서와 인터뷰 등에서 고른 현대 경영과 리더십의 핵심적인 내용들을 매일 매일 읽을 수 있도록 편집되어 있다.

하지만 서문에서 저자가 밝혔듯이 이 책의 핵심부분은 각 페이지마다 남겨져 있는 공백이다. 독자들의 의견과 실천으로 그 여백을 채워주길 바라는 이책은 실천의 책인 것이다.  위대한 지도자들이 그러하듯이 위대한 생각들을 실천함으로써 새로운 세계와 미래를 창조하는 우리가 되어야 할 것이다.
