The Impossible Dream

(Words and Music by Joe Darion and Mitch Leigh from the Broadway musical "Man of La Mancha")

To dream the impossible dream, to fight the unbeatable foe

To bear with unbearable sorrow, to run where the brave dare not go

To right the unrightable wrong, to love pure and chaste from afar

To try when your arms too weary

To reach the unreachable star

This is my quest to follow that star

No matter how hopeless, no matter how far

To fight for the right without question or pause

To be willing to march into hell for a heavenly cause

And I know if I’ll only be true to his glorious quest

That my heart will lie peaceful and calm

When I’m laid to my rest

And the world will be better for this

That one man scorned and covered with scars

Still strove with his last ounce of courage

To reach the unreachable star

(Let Me Be Your) TEDDY BEAR

Baby let me be, your lovin’ Teddy Bear

Put a chain around my neck, and lead me anywhere

Oh let me be (oh let him be)

Your teddy bear.

I don’t wanna be a tiger

"Cause tigers play too rough

I don’t wanna be a lion

‘Cause lions ain’t the kind that you love enough.

Just wanna be, your Teddy Bear

Put a chain around my neck and lead me anywhere

Oh let me be (oh let him be)

Your teddy bear.

Baby let me be, around you every night

Run your fingers through my hair,

And cuddle me real tight

Oh let me be (oh let him be) your teddy bear

I don’t wanna be a tiger

‘Cause tigers play too rough

I don’t wanna be a lion

‘Cause lions ain’t the kind you love enough.

Just wanna be, your teddy bear

Put a chain around my neck and lead me anywhere

Oh let me be (oh let him be) your teddy bear

Oh let me be (oh let him be) your teddy bear

I just wanna be your teddy bear.

Suspicuous Minds

We’re caught in a trap; I can’t walk out

because I love you too much, baby.

Why can’t you see, what you’re doing to me,

when you don’t believe a word I say?

We can’t go on together, with Suspicious Minds;

and we can’t build our dreams, on Suspicious Minds.

So, if an old friend I know, drops by to say hello,

would I still see suspicion in your eyes?

Here we go again, asking where I’ve been.

You can see these tears are real I’m crying.

            We can’t go on together, with Suspicious Minds;

and we can’t build our dreams, on Suspicious Minds...

Oh, let our love survive,

I’ll dry the tears from your eyes.

Let’s don’t let a good things die, when honey,

you know I’ve never, lied to you; Mmm, yeah, yeah!

(repeat first verse and fade)

JAILHOUSE ROCK

The warden threw a party in the county jail.

The prison band was there and they began to wail.

The band was jumpin’ and the joint began to swing.

You should’ve heard those knocked out jailbirds sing.

Let’s rock, everybody, let’s rock.

Everybody in the whole cell block was a dancin’ to the Jailhouse Rock.

Spider Murphy played the tenor saxophone,

Little Joe was blowin’ on the slide trombone.

The drummer boy from Illinois went crash, boom, bang,

the whole rhythm section was the Purple Gang.

Let’s rock, everybody, let’s rock.

Everybody in the whole cell block was a dancin’ to the Jailhouse Rock.

Number forty-seven said to number three:

"You’re the cutest jailbird I ever did see.

I sure would be delighted with your company,

come on and do the Jailhouse Rock with me."

Let’s rock, everybody, let’s rock.

Everybody in the whole cell block was a dancin’ to the Jailhouse Rock.

The sad sack was a sittin’ on a block of stone

way over in the corner weepin’ all alone.

The warden said, "Hey, buddy, don’t you be no square.

If you can’t find a partner use a wooden chair."

Let’s rock, everybody, let’s rock.

Everybody in the whole cell block was a dancin’ to the Jailhouse Rock.

Shifty Henry said to Bugs, "For Heaven’s sake,

no one’s lookin’, now’s our chance to make a break."

Bugsy turned to Shifty and he said, "Nix nix,

I wanna stick around a while and get my kicks."

Let’s rock, everybody, let’s rock.

Everybody in the whole cell block was a dancin’ to the Jailhouse Rock.
