요 14:16 너희와 함께 하리니

저는 재작년 유럽 여행을 다녀왔습니다. 로마교황청 안에 있는 시스티나 성당에 들어가 보니 천장과 벽면에 그림이 빽빽하게 그려져 있었습니다. 천장에는 미켈란젤로가 교황 율리우스 2세의 부탁을 받아 4년 동안 창세기에 나오는 천지 창조부터 노아의 방주까지 9가지 장면을 그린 그림이 있었습니다. 그 중 가장 유명한 그림이 4번째 그림인 [아담의 창조]입니다. 벌거벗은 아담이 비스듬히 기대고 왼손을 구부정하게 뻗칩니다. 흰 수염을 흩날리는 하나님이 천사들과 함께 나타나 오른손을 힘차게 뻗칩니다. 하나님의 손가락이 아담의 손가락에 닿기도 전에 깊은 잠에서 깨어난 아담이 하나님의 자애로운 얼굴을 쳐다봅니다. 미켈란젤로는 하나님이 손끝으로 아담에게 생명의 기운을 불어넣는 순간을 포착했습니다. 그 생명의 기운이 성령님입니다. 하나님이 땅의 흙으로 아담을 만들어 생명의 기운인 성령님을 불어 넣으시자 사람이 생명체가 된 것처럼 하나님의 은혜로 예수님을 믿은 우리에게 생명의 기운인 성령님이 임하셔야 생명력 있는 교인이 될 수 있습니다.

오늘 성령강림주일입니다. 성령님은 자동차를 움직이는 휘발유요, 마이크를 소리 나게 하고 실내를 환하게 밝히는 전기입니다. 예수님은 십자가에 못 박혀 돌아가시기 전날 밤에 제자들과 최후의 만찬을 드시면서 성령님에 관해 4가지 약속을 하셨습니다. 첫 번째 약속은 요한복음 14장 16절을 통해 말씀하셨습니다. “내가 아버지께 구하겠으니 그가 또 다른 보혜사를 너희에게 주사 영원토록 너희와 함께 있게 하리니.” 라고 말씀하셨습니다. 예수님은 성령님을 ‘보혜사’라고 말씀하셨습니다. 보혜사는 헬라어로 ‘파라클레토스’인데 새번역은 변호해주시는 분 또는 도와주시는 분으로, 공동번역은 협조자로 번역했습니다. 성령님은 우리가 난처할 때 변호해 주시고 어려울 때 도와주시는 분입니다. 예수님은 세상을 떠나시지만 성령님이 제자들과 함께 하실 겁니다. 예수님이 하나님의 대리자인 것처럼 성령님은 예수님의 대리자입니다. 성령님은 제자들과 함께 하신 것처럼 우리와도 함께 하실 겁니다. 성령님은 임마누엘의 하나님입니다./

두 번째 약속은 14장 26절을 통해 말씀하셨습니다. “보혜사 곧 아버지께서 내 이름으로 보내실 성령 그가 너희에게 모든 것을 가르치고 내가 너희에게 말한 모든 것을 생각나게 하리라.” 고 말씀하셨습니다. 예수님은 세상을 떠나시지만 성령님이 제자들을 가르치실 겁니다. 성령님은 제자들을 가르치시고 예수님의 말씀을 기억나게 해 주실 겁니다. 제자들은 성령님의 도움으로 성경을 기록하였습니다. 신학자들은 교인들이 성경을 이해할 수 있도록 성령님이 도와주신다고 주장합니다. 성령님이 도와주시는 작용을 조명이라고 합니다. 불을 켜야 방안이 환해지듯이 성령님이 조명해 주셔야 우리가 성경을 깨달을 수 있습니다. 성령님은 제자들을 가르치신 것처럼 우리도 가르치실 겁니다./

세 번째 약속은 15장 26절을 통해 말씀하셨습니다. “내가 아버지께로부터 너희에게 보낼 보혜사 곧 아버지께로부터 나오시는 진리의 성령이 오실 때에 그가 나를 증언하실 것이요.” 라고 말씀하셨습니다. 예수님은 세상을 떠나시지만 성령님이 예수님을 메시야라고 증언하실 겁니다. 어떻게 증언할까요? 강에 돌을 던지면 물의 파장이 점점 퍼져나가듯이 제자들은 지금 있는 자리부터 시작해서 지구촌 전체까지 예수님은 그리스도라고 전파했습니다. 성령님은 사람들의 생각과 마음을 준비시키시고, 복음을 이해시키시고, 복음을 받아들이도록 증언하십니다. 성령님은 농부가 씨를 뿌리기 위해 밭을 갈아엎듯이 우리의 영혼을 갈아엎어서 복음이 싹 트게 하십니다. 성령님은 제자들에게 증언하신 것처럼 우리에게도 증언하실 겁니다./

네 번째 약속은 16장 8절-11절을 통해 말씀하셨습니다. “그가 와서 죄에 대하여, 의에 대하여, 심판에 대하여 세상을 책망하시리라. 죄에 대하여 라 함은 그들이 나를 믿지 아니함이요 의에 대하여 라 함은 내가 아버지께로 가니 너희가 다시 나를 보지 못함이요 심판에 대하여 라 함은 이 세상 임금이 심판을 받았음이라.” 고 말씀하셨습니다. 예수님은 세상을 책망하시는데 새번역은 ‘세상의 잘못을 깨우치실 것이다’ 로, 공동번역은 ‘세상의 그릇된 생각을 꾸짖어 바로잡아 주실 것이다’ 로 번역하였습니다. 예수님은 세상을 떠나시지만 성령님은 믿지 않는 세상을 심판하실 겁니다. 성령님은 예수님을 믿지 않는 것이 죄(요3:18)라는 것을 깨우치실 겁니다. 성령님은 하나님과의 올바른 관계를 맺기 위하여 예수님이 필요하다는 것을 깨우치실 겁니다. 성령님은 예수님의 십자가와 부활을 통하여 사탄이 이미 심판과 정죄를 받았다는 것을 깨우치실 겁니다. 성령님이 제자들에게 믿지 않는 세상을 심판하신다고 깨우치신 것처럼 우리에게도 믿지 않는 세상을 심판하신다고 깨우치실 겁니다./ 

이처럼 성령님은 우리와 함께 하시고, 우리를 가르치시고, 우리에게 증언하시고, 우리를 깨우치실 겁니다. 예수님은 지금 성령님을 통해서 우리와 함께 하십니다. 성령님을 통해서 우리를 가르치십니다. 성령님을 통해서 우리에게 증언하십니다. 그리고 성령님을 통해서 우리를 깨우치십니다. 하나님은 어머니를 통해서 우리를 돌보시듯이 예수님은 성령님을 통해서 우리와 함께 하십니다. 오늘도 성령님과 동행하는 하루가 되시길 바랍니다.

The Evangelical Christian Publishers Association is pleased to announce the Christian Book Award Winners for 2009, honoring the year’s finest in Christian publishing. Since 1978 the Christian Book Awards (formerly the Gold Medallion Awards) have awarded excellence in six categories: Bibles, Bible Reference & Study, Children & Youth, Inspiration & Gift, Christian Life, and Fiction. Five finalists are selected in each category following a stringent judging process by judging panels specially selected for each category. 지금으로부터 약 2천 3백 년 전에 동양과 서양에서 대규모 토목공사가 벌어졌습니다. 중국은 이민족을 방어하기 위해 5천 킬로미터에 이르는 만리장성을 쌓았습니다. 중국은 길을 막고 이민족과의 왕래를 차단했습니다. 그러나 로마는 이민족을 공격하기 위해 15만 킬로미터에 이르는 도로를 건설했습니다. 로마는 길을 닦고 이민족과의 왕래를 촉진했습니다. 중국은 패쇄적이었고 로마는 개방적이었습니다. 그 결과는 어떠했을까요? 길을 차단한 중국은 이민족의 침략에 시달렸지만 길을 건설한 로마는 세계를 제패했습니다. 모든 길은 로마로 통한다는 말은 피가 심장에서 혈관을 타고 흐르듯이 모든 길은 로마로부터 시작해서 로마의 속국으로까지 연결된다는 말입니다.

로마 제국은 모든 길은 로마로 통한다고 생각했으나 예수님은 나는 아버지께로 가는 유일한 길이라고 말씀하셨습니다. 로마는 여러 갈래 길을 통해 들어갈 수 있었으나 천국은 한 갈래 길을 통해서 들어갈 수 있습니다. 예수님은 십자가에 달리시기 전날 밤에 제자들과 마지막 저녁 식사를 하시면서 두 가지를 약속하셨습니다. 요한복음 14장 1-2절을 통해 “너희는 마음에 근심하지 말라. 하나님을 믿으니 또 나를 믿으라. 내 아버지 집에 거할 곳이 많도다. 그렇지 않으면 너희에게 일렀으리라. 내가 너희를 위하여 거처를 예비하러 가노니” 예수님은 엄마가 아이를 이웃집에 맡기고 시장에 다녀오겠다고 말하듯이, 제자들에게 너희를 위하여 거처를 예비하러 가시겠다고 말씀하셨습니다.(14:2) 여기서 ‘거처’는 ‘하늘나라’라는 장소적 개념도 있고, ‘하나님 안에서’라는 관계적 개념도 있습니다. 예수님은 십자가에 달리셔서 하나님 안에서 살 수 있는 하늘나라를 예비하러 가신다고 말씀하셨습니다./ 3절을 통해 “가서 너희를 위하여 거처를 예비하면 내가 다시 와서 너희를 내게로 영접하여 나 있는 곳에 너희도 있게 하리라. 내가 어디로 가는지 그 길을 너희가 아느니라.” 예수님은 엄마가 아이에게 시장에 다녀와서 집으로 데려가겠다고 약속하듯이, 제자들에게 다시 와서 너희를 영접하시겠다고 말씀하셨습니다.(14:3) 예수님은 부활하시고 재림하셔서 제자들을 하늘나라로 데려가시고 하나님 안에서 살게 하시겠다고 말씀하셨습니다. 
 

아이는 엄마가 자신을 떼놓고 시장에 가는지 모르듯이 도마는 예수님께서 아버지께로 가셨다가 다시 오신다는 말씀을 이해하지 못했습니다.(14:5) “주여, 주께서 어디로 가시는지 우리가 알지 못하거늘 그 길을 어찌 알겠사옵나이까?” 도마는 예수님께서 아버지께로 가신다는 사실도 몰랐고 아버지께로 가는 길도 몰랐습니다. 예수님은 엄마가 아이에게 시장에 다녀와야 한다고 설명해 주듯이 도마를 아버지께로 가는 길을 알려주셨습니다.(14:6-7) “내가 곧 길이요 진리요 생명이니 나로 말미암지 않고는 아버지께로 올 자가 없느니라. 너희가 나를 알았더라면 내 아버지도 알았으리로다. 이제부터는 너희가 그를 알았고 또 보았느니라.”

예수님은 길이라고 말씀하셨습니다. 예수님은 하나님께로 가는 유일한 길입니다. 하나님께로 가는 다른 길은 없습니다. 우리는 예수님을 통해서만 하나님께로 갈 수 있습니다. 종교 다원주의자들은 산으로 올라가는 여러 갈래 길이 있듯이 천국은 여러 가지 방법을 통해 갈 수 있다고 말합니다. 그러나 예수님은 자동차가 일방통행로를 달리듯이 예수님이란 일방통행로를 통해서 천국에 갈 수 있다고 말씀하셨습니다./

예수님은 진리라고 말씀하셨습니다. 예수님은 하나님을 알려주는 진리입니다. 우리는 예수님을 통해서 하나님을 알 수 있습니다. 예수님을 보는 것이 하나님을 보는 것입니다. 포스트모더니즘은 절대적인 진리는 없고 상대적인 진리가 있다고 말합니다. 그러나 프란시스 쉐퍼는 성경은 종교적인 진리가 아니라 총체적인 진리라고 말합니다. 성경은 교회에서만 사용되는 진리가 아니라 세상에서도 통용되는 완전한 진리입니다./

예수님은 생명이라고 말씀하셨습니다. 예수님은 영원한 삶을 주시는 생명입니다. 우리는 예수님을 통해서 영원한 생명을 얻을 수 있습니다. 가톨릭 신학자 칼 라너는 ‘익명의 그리스도인’ 이라는 말을 통해 다른 종교를 가진 사람이 신실하게 신앙 생활한다면 기독교인으로 포용해야 한다고 말합니다. 황해사에서 열심히 불공드리는 할머니도 하나님의 자녀로 맞아줘야 한다고 말합니다. 그러나 예수님은 ‘나로 말미암지 않고는 아버지께로 올 자가 없다.’ 고 분명하게 선을 그으셨습니다./

예수님은 길이요 진리요 생명이라고 말씀하셨지만 세상 사람들은 어떻게 반응합니까? 길이신 예수님을 거부하는 사람도 있고 영접하는 사람도 있습니다. 예수님은 고린도전서 1장 18절을 통해 “십자가의 도가 멸망하는 자들에게는 미련한 것이요 구원을 받는 우리에게는 하나님의 능력이라.”고 말씀하셨습니다. 멸망당할 사람은 예수님의 십자가를 어리석게 보고 거부하게 되지만 구원받을 사람은 능력으로 보고 영접하게 됩니다. 하나님은 누가복음 23장을 통해서 예수님과 두 명의 행악 자가 십자가에 달렸는데 하나는 예수님에게 “네가 그리스도가 아니냐? 너와 우리를 구원하라.”고 비방했으나(거부했으나), 다른 하나는 비방한 행악 자를 꾸짖고 예수님에게 “예수여, 당신의 나라에 임하실 때에 나를 기억하소서.”하고 영접하였습니다. 그 결과는 어떻게 되었을까요? 예수님께서 행악 자에게 “내가 진실로 네게 이르노니 오늘 네가 나와 함께 낙원에 있으리라.”고 축복하셨습니다. 예수님을 영접한 행악 자는 영원한 생명을 누리게 되었습니다.

예수님은 하늘나라로 가는 유일한 길입니다. 길을 막은 중국이 쇠퇴했듯이 하나님께로 가는 길을 막으면 영원히 멸망하게 됩니다. 그러나 길을 열은 로마가 흥왕했듯이 하나님께로 가는 길을 열면 영원한 생명을 얻게 됩니다. 며칠 전 감리사 이취임식에 참석하느라 부산 삼남연회 본부에 다녀왔는데 하이패스 차량단말기를 설치하니까 고속도로 요금소를 지날 때 통행료 때문에 정체하지 않고 무선으로 계산되기 때문에 빠르게 통과할 수 있었습니다. 저는 천국으로 가는 하이패스는 예수님이라고 확신합니다. 저와 여러분은 길이요 진리요 생명이신 예수님을 믿어 천국으로 ‘하이패스’ 해야 하겠습니다.

시험기간에는 해법 열공으로 마무리를 합니다.  

내용이 간단하고 명료하게 요약되어 있고 

천재교육에서 동영상 강의도 하다보니 

공부하기 좋은 모양입니다. 

올해는 부록인 영어, 기술가정, 한문을  

알라딘 주문과정에서 선택할 수 있네요. 

그리고 배송도 출판사에서 해서 그런지 멤버십 마일리지는 주지 않네요.
