What touched me is only the last part of the novel.
When Juliette and Jerome looking at each other in little Alissa's room. That I felt...maybe Juliette in her heart, still loves Jerome even with her little children and husband.
However, I can still not understand Alissa and her love and faith in God. If this what author had intended then he has been really successful.
Ah.. Maybe Alissa was too lonely and alone that she just need someone to lean on. Too sad that there's no one around her to listen to her. Maybe this is why some elder people so fell into religion. There's no one else who are willing to listen to their stories and recognize one's loneliness...
In her last journal, Alissa may in her heart noticed that she has been on the wrong road and she has gone too far to go back. Following is latter part of her journal:
I would like to die now..before I realize once a gain, that I am all alone.
