내가 좋아하는 작가 무라카미 하루키(村上春木)는 재즈 매니아로 유명한데,,
대학시절 엘라의 LP를 듣고,
'재즈란 한번 심취하면 이렇게 마음을 편하게 해주는 것인가'라는 생각을 했다고 한다.
아주 인간적인 그녀의 보컬을 듣고 있으면,
국가나 인종을 초월해 그 누구에게든 푸근한 마음이 생기는건,,
봄바람과 아지랑이에 흔들리는 여심(女心)처럼 자명한 일.
스팅의 노래로 유명한 Angel eyes는
영화 <라스베가스를 떠나며>로 더 유명해졌고,
나는 몇년 전 이은미 콘서트에서 이 노래를 듣고,
왠지 도시의 고독에 대해 생각해 본 적이 있었다..
연관 없지만, 빔벤더스 감독의 <베를린 천사의 시>라는 독일 영화가 떠오르기도 하고..
