[북미 여행과 나의 로터리 ] 작자는 아마도 로타리 ? 회원 인듯 하다... 글은 거칠 지만 생활 철학이 담겨져 있고 , 여행 내내 에피소드로 넘쳐 나지만 장소 불문 셀카는 마다 하지 않는다.
따라서 책을 거진 다 읽을 무렵이 되면 아마도 길거리에서 마주 하면 그분이 주인공인줄은 인식 할 정도가 된다...
북미 비행기 출발 시간을 기점으로 시간 순으로 나열한 그의 방식은 일기식 형식을 빌어 순차적으로 진행되어 간다...
애틀란타에서 다름 여행지 일정 , 그리고 복귀 ,, 인상 깊었던 몇컷 사진들에서는 항상 그의 짙은 선글라스와 함께 맘면 웃음 이다.... 대자연 그대로 찍은 사진들도 같이 올려 주었으면 하는 바램은 중간 챕터를 읽어 나가면서 였다.. 결국 그의 가족 사항도 다 알게 되었고 동네 잔치에 가면 알아볼 ? 정도로 전혀 모자이크 처리를 하지 않아서 가족 관계 구성원을 소상히?도 알게 되엇다,.
인싱 깊은 것은 그의 단답식 영어에도 불구 하고 ,,어찌 되었던 소콩이 이뤄져 무사히 목적지에는 간다라는 사실이다. 이부분은 우리가 살면서 상당히 중요 한 부분 이다... 거슬러 가더라도 목적지를 목표한 바데로 간다는 것 , 다시 한번 배우고 넘어 간다....
그리고 다시 로터리 클럽,,, 길다가 보아온 " 초아의 봉사" 를 떠올린다... 나도 은근 관심이 생겨서 다시 찾아 보게 되었고 오늘 급기야 회원 신청이라도 해두게 되었다 ,, 연락이라도 올까나 ?...
여행자는 미국 워싱턴을 들어 먼발치의 트럼프 대통령과도 일별을 하고 , 월스크리트의 황소 상에도 뿔을 쓰다 듬는다...
자유의 여신상은 필수 코스 이고, 위쪽 나라 , 캐나타의 토론토의 대회는 또다른 멋을 선사 한다... 나이아가라에서의 대자연의 호흡 , 거칠은 물살은 작은 배들을 사정 없이 흔들어 대고 ,,, 폭포 상류는 또다른 관점에서의 볼거리를 제공 한다.
봉사를 위주로 구성 된 로타리 클럽은 지구상 빈곤 퇴치와 소아마비백신 , 그리고 깨굿한 물의 공급 등 필수 불가결한 자원 이 필요한 곳에 적절한 지원을 해줄 수 잇는 기부 행사를 하는 단체 이다... 한국에도 지부 지회가 있고 꽤나 활발히 활동을 하고 있는 것으로 알고 있다. 아래는 링크에서 발췌된 내용을 토대로 다시 한번 정리 해보며 이제는 한국에서도 이러한 봉사 기부 문화가 안정적으로 정착 하고 잇음을 자랑 스럽게 생각 하는 책력거99 였습니다.

The first years of the Rotary Club[edit]
The first Rotary Club was formed when attorney Paul P. Harris called together a meeting of three business acquaintances in downtown Chicago, United States, at Harris's friend Gustave Loehr's office in the Unity Building on Dearborn Street on February 23, 1905. In addition to Harris and Loehr (a mining engineer and freemason), Silvester Schiele (a coal merchant), and Hiram E. Shorey (a tailor) were the other two who attended this first meeting. The members chose the name Rotary because initially they rotated subsequent weekly club meetings to each other's offices, although within a year, the Chicago club became so large it became necessary to adopt the now-common practice of a regular meeting place.
The next four Rotary Clubs were organized in cities in the western United States, beginning with San Francisco, then Oakland, Seattle, and Los Angeles. The National Association of Rotary Clubs in America was formed in 1910. On November 3, 1910, a Rotary club began meeting in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, the beginning of the organisation's internationality. On 22 February 1911, the first meeting of the Rotary Club Dublin was held in Dublin, Ireland. This was the first club established outside of North America. In April 1912, Rotary chartered the Winnipeg club marking the first establishment of an American-style service club outside the United States. To reflect the addition of a club outside of the United States, the name was changed to the International Association of Rotary Clubs in 1912.
In August 1912, the Rotary Club of London received its charter from the Association, marking the first acknowledged Rotary club outside North America. It later became known that the Dublin club in Ireland was organized before the London club, but the Dublin club did not receive its charter until after the London club was chartered. During World War I, Rotary in Britain increased from 9 to 22 clubs, and other early clubs in other nations included those in Cuba in 1916, Philippines in 1919 and India in 1920.
In 1922, the name was changed to Rotary International. From 1923 to 1928, Rotary's office and headquarters were located on E 20th Street (now E Cullerton Street) in the Atwell Building (designed by famed Chicago architect, Alfred S. Alschuler). During this same time, the monthly magazine The Rotarian was published mere floors below by Atwell Printing and Binding Company. By 1925, Rotary had grown to 200 clubs with more than 20,000 members.
