"Now I become myself-(나 이제 내가 되었네)"--- May Sarton

Now I become myself

 

 

Now I become myself. It's taken
Time, many years and places,
I have been dissolved and shaken,
Worn other people's faces,
Run madly, as if Time were there,

Terribly old, crying a warning,
"hurry, you will be dead before -----"
(What? Before you reach the morning?
or the end of the poem, is clear?
Or love safe in the walled city?)

Now to stand still, to be here,
Feel my own weight and density!.....
Now there is time and Time is young.
O, in this single hour I live
All of myself and do not move
I, the pursued, who madly ran,
Stand still, stand still, and stop the Sun!

옮겨 봅니다.

 

나, 이제 내가 되었네

많은 세월 이곳 저곳 떠도느라

시간이 많이 걸렸지

수없이 다른 사람의 얼굴로 사느라

나는 부서지고 녹아버렸네

 

마치 시간이  충분한 듯

미치도록 달리기만 했네

이제 등이 굽어서야

 경고의  말을 내뱉지

"서둘러라, 네가 .....을 하기 전에

죽을 수도 있으니"

( 무엇을? 너의 아침이 오기전에?

아니, 그전에 이 시는 끝낼 수는 있을까?

성채같은 죽음에서 사랑은 안전할까?)
 

이제 여기 고요히 멈춰서서

나 자신의 무게와 밀도를 느끼네

이제사 시간이 여유롭고 젊어졌지.

 

오, 이 단 한순간 속에 나는

내 전부을 살며, 움직이지 않으리라

 무언가에 쫒겨 미친듯 달려와,

나, 이제  고요히, 고요히 멈춰서네

태양이여, 너도 멈춰라!
