37Do not believe me unless I do the works of my Father.

38But if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father." - P51

Jesus’ opponents refuse to accept His claims despite the evidence of His miraculous signs, which they repeatedly saw with their own eyes.  - P52

They understand that Jesus is claiming divinity, but they harden their hearts to His exposition of the Scriptures they themselves study so diligently. They think that by rejecting Jesus they are following Scripture but the reality is that they are choosing which parts of Scripture to believe and disregarding the parts they do not like. - P52

They believe, not on account of signs but because of John’s true testimony about Jesus. - P52

However, even seeing a miracle will not convince them to trust in Him as long as sin still blinds and deafens them. - P52

God calls Christians to participate in gathering others by sharing the gospel with them. - P54

Jesus experienced opposition from the Jewish religious leaders because ofHis claims of divinity. It would have been right for the religious leaders toinvestigate such claims because God alone can claim divinity. What theymissed was that Jesus‘ works on earth-His miracles, His teachings, andHis life--are a testament to His being God Himself. - P53

Father, thank you for the Bible, Your Word which reveals to us who Jesus is. Forgive me for the times I disregard what Your Word teaches. Give me ears to hear and a heart that obeys what You command. In Jesus’ name, amen. - P53
