7-12 "왕이 바로 그 사람입니다!" 나단이 말했다. "하나님 이스라엘의하나님께서 왕에게 말씀하십니다. ‘내가 너를 이스라엘의 왕으로 삼았다. 내가 너를 사울의 손아귀에서 벗어나게 했다. 내가 네게 네 주인의 딸과 아내들을 주어 소유하고 품게 했다. 내가 네게 이스라엘과 유다도 주었다. 그것으로 부족했다면, 내가 기꺼이 더 주었을 것이다. 그런데 네가 어찌하여 하나님의 말씀을 업신여기고 이 큰 악행하였느냐? 너는 헷 사람 우리아를 죽이고 그의 아내를 빼앗아네 아내로 삼았다. 더구나 너는 그를 암몬 사람의 칼로 죽였다! 네가이렇게 하나님을 업신여기고 헷 사람 우리아의 아내를 빼앗았으니,
이제 살인과 살육이 두고두고 네 집안을 괴롭힐 것이다. 나 하나님이 하는 말을 명심하여라! 내가 바로 네 집안의 일로 너를 괴롭게 할것이다. 네가 보는 앞에서 네 아내들을 빼앗아 너와 가까운 사람에게 주겠고, 그는 공공연하게 그들과 잠자리를 같이할 것이다. 너는은밀하게 했지만, 나는 온 나라가 지켜보는 가운데 이 일을 행할 것이다!" - P296

Two godlymen are nominated and they pray over which one God has chosen. After theycast lots, Matthias is chosen and becomes one of the twelve apostles. - P103

This passage serves as a bridge between the ascension of Jesus and theoutpouring of the Holy Spirit. Two things stand out.  - P104

First, we learnthat Jesus‘ brothers are now among His disciples. The brother theyrejected as Messiah during His lifetime on earth is now their Lord.  - P104

Thesecond and often overlooked fact is that this small circle of disciplesmakes up what would later become the Early Church.  - P104

At first, thisgroup of a hundred and twenty men and women is all that is left ofJesus‘ followers. But from these humble beginnings, God will raiseupa mighty, Spirit-empowered people.  - P104

Our God delights in using whatappears small and insignificant in the eyes of the world to accomplishgreat things of eternal significance. - P104

Lord, teach me how to view life and ministry with a kingdom mindset. Smallbeginnings are so easily dismissed by the world, yet so vital to the work of thegospel. Help me to embrace these mustard seeds of ministry all around me.

Luke writes to Theophilus. In his previous book, he had detailed Jesus‘ worksand teachings. After His resurrection, Jesus, appears before His disciples manytimes and gives His final commands.  - P99

Jesus tells the disciples to wait untilthey are baptized by the Holy Spirit. Once Jesus is taken up, an angel tells thedisciples that just as He went up, He will come back. - P99

Luke makes a summary statement of how his first letter ended. The dis-ciples are told to wait for the promised Holy Spirit who would empowerthem for their mission to be witnesses of Jesus to their known worlds.

On one hand, the story of redemption is finished and on the other, ithas only just begun. It is finished in the sense that victory over sin hasbeen completed through Jesus‘ death and resurrection, but it is just thebeginning in the sense that the church will now carry this news to theworld as it declares what Jesus has accomplished.  - P100

Christians today aretasked with the same mission as the disciples in the book of Acts. Wehave heard the good news of the completed work of Christ, and ourwork of proclaiming this good news will continue until He returns.

The African nation of Togo struggles with an unstable economy, ethnic tensions, and a historyof human rights violations.  - P100

Extreme poverty has led to many children becoming orphanedand exploited. Christianity was introduced to Togo in the fifteenth century, and the churchhas experienced significant growth in recent decades, across all denominations.  - P100

However,
unity among churches has been hard to achieve. The people of Togo are open and responsiveto the gospel and there are many ministry opportunities, but sadly workers are still scarce. - P100

그들이 대답했다. "나사렛 사람 예수요."
8-9 예수께서 말씀하셨다. "내가 그라고 너희에게 말했다. 내가 그 사람이다. 너희가 찾는 사람이 나라면, 이 사람들은 가게 해주어라."

31-34 그날은 안식일을 준비하는 날이었다. 안식일에는 시체를 십자가에 둘 수 없었기 때문에, 유대인들은 십자가에 달린 자들의 다리를 꺾어 빨리 죽게 해서 시체를 내리게 해달라고 빌라도에게 청원했다. (이번 안식일은 일 년 중 가장 거룩하게 지키는 날이었다.) 그래서 병사들이 가서, 예수와 함께 십자가에 못 박힌 첫째 사람의 다리를 꺾고 또 다른 사람의 다리도 꺾었다. 병사들이 예수께 다가가서 그분이이미 숨을 거두신 것을 보고는, 다리를 꺾지 않았다. 병사들 가운데하나가 창으로 그분의 옆구리를 찔렀다. 피와 물이 쏟아져 나왔다.
35 이 일은 직접 목격한 사람이 정확히 전한 것이다. 그가 직접 보고진실을 말한 이유는, 여러분도 믿게 하려는 것이다.
36-37 이 일들로 인해 "그의 뼈가 하나도 꺾이지 않았다"고 한 성경 말씀과, "그들은 자기들이 찌른 이를 볼 것이다"라고 한 성경 말씀이확증되었다. - P362

38 이 모든 일이 있고 나서, 아리마대 사람 요셉이 예수의 시신을 거두게 해달라고 빌라도에게 청했다. (그는 예수의 제자였지만, 유대인들의 위협 때문에 자기가 예수의 제자라는 사실을 비밀로 하고 있었다.) 빌라도가 허락하자, 요셉이 가서 시신을 거두었다.
