구약에서 하나님이 말씀하신 규칙들을 지키는 것은 중요합니다. 왜냐하면 그 말씀은 단순한 규율이 아니라 우리를 구원하시는 그리스도를 예포하는 것이기 때문입니다. 옷사가 하나님의 귀를 만진 사건은 말씀에대한 무지이기도 하지만, 그 당시 하나님의 귀와 하나님에 대해 어떤 생각을 하고 있었는지를 보여 주는 예이기도 합니다. 역대상 133을 보면계를 옮기면서 이렇게 이야기합니다.
‘우리가 우리 하나님의 궤를 우리에게로 옮겨 오자, 사울 때에는 우리가지 앞에서 묻지 아니하였느니라 하다.
하나님의 계가 있었지만 하나님께 묻지 않는 시대였습니다.  - P20
