Knowing that this is likely the last time he speaks to the church eldersin person, Paul passes on the torch of leadership to these trustworthymen. He commands them to keep watch over themselves and the flock,
calling them to be shepherds over the church of God.  - P72

Paul also remindsthem that the gospel will continue to be attacked from both within andoutside the church. It is therefore vital that these leaders stay alert andprotect the truth of the gospel with their lives.  - P72

In his parting words, Paul emphasizes generosity exemplified by hisown life and commits the elders to God and to the word of His grace.
- P72

Because God is a generous God who has proven His self-giving love tous, our lives should reflect His love in both heart and action.  - P72

This lovewas the essence of Jesus own teachings and is the core of what unitesbelievers together. Bonds created in God‘s love are powerful, and we feelthis most strongly when the circumstances of the world pull us apartfrom those we love in Christ.  - P72

But the beauty of Christian friendship isthat our goodbyes are never final-we will one day be reunited in glory,
in the presence of our Lord. - P72

35 In everything I did, I showed you that by this kindof hard work we must help the weak, remembering thewords the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed togive than to receive.""

36 When Paul had finished speaking, he knelt downwith all of them and prayed. - P71

Paul declares himself innocent of the elders‘ blood because he has proclaimedGod‘s will to them faithfully. He warns them to be on their guard becausethere will be people who distort the truth.  - P71

Paul has shown them that it is moreblessed to give than to receive, and he warns them to not covet. They all pray,
weep, and embrace as they say goodbye to Paul. - P71

This child isn‘t dead; she‘s sleeping." Provoked to sarcasm, they told him he didn‘t knowwhat he was talking about. o oviyghidbynsBut when he had sent them all out, he took the child‘s father and mother, along withcompanions, and entered the child‘s room. He clasped the girl‘s hand and said,
"Talitha koum," which means, "Little girl, get up." At that, she was up and walkingaround! This girl was twelve years of age. They, of course, were all beside themselveswith joy. He gave them strict orders that no one was to know what had taken place inthat room. Then he said, "Give her something to eat." - P1229
