농민이나 기본출들은 그들과는 반대로, 공부 대신 노동을 했으니까 주력이 강하고, 그러니까피곤이 덜한 데다 학습에서 날마다 배우는 모든 것이 새롭고 유익한데 졸음이 올 리가 없었던 것이다. 농민이나 기본출들은 거의가눈 똑바로 뜨고 몽당연필 끝에침묻혀가며 열성으로 학습을 받았고, 말들이 어렵든 말든 중요하다고 강조된 규정이나 대목 같은 것은 달달 외워버렸다.  - P171

극한적인 입산투쟁이 전개되면서 이남 출신들은 대부분의 이북 출신들을 겁쟁이로 비웃고 있었고, 이북 출신들은 또한 이남의 농민이나기본출들의 사상적 무지에 대해서 경멸감을 가지고 있었다. 그 간격은 당이론이나 학습이 좁힐 수 있는 것이 아니었다. - P183

 Out of fear, she tried to hide the stain, but it was eventually discovered.

 reprimanded but being rejected and losing her parents‘ love
because of her wrongdoing. To this, her mother replied, "You couldnever make a big enough stain to keep me from loving you."

There are times in our relationship with God when we feel like we have crossed the
 line or messed up one too many times. 
We fear that our faults and shortcomings 
have made us unlovable in His sight.  - P55

But our Father‘s faithfulness extends far 
beyond our faults! His love toward us is 
everlasting, even in our greatest failures.  - P55

The cross of Christ is the clearest 
evidence of this truth: in our most wretched sinful state,
God demonstrated His love for us and Jesus went to the cross to diefor our sake.

When our lives feel littered with failures and faults, we need not fear rejection from 
God. His mercy and grace are bigger than our sins.
- P55

Turn to the Lord. Confess and surrender your shortcomings and sins to Him and He 
will receive and renew you.  - P55

May you find joy andsecurity in the Father‘s faithful love. - P55

[NIV] 1 Now the LORD was gracious to Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did for

 After a long twenty-five years ofwaiting,

In the eyes of the world, this timeline 
is excruciatingly slow. But Scripture pointsout that from God‘s standpoint, this is the exact timing He had in mind all along.  - P58

History, particularly the history of our salvation, demonstrates that God‘s timing is 
always perfect and exact. - P58

 When we feel like God‘swork is delayed,
 let us remember that His plans, His ways, and Histiming are perfect.  - P58

Trust in the Lord and be at rest.
 Everything will go according to His plan. - P58

In Abraham‘s time, having children was important for a variety of reasons. 
It meant a stronger clan, and through one‘s offspring the family name was passed 
down and its legacy secured.  - P58

A wife who bore children was considered 
honorable to her husband and divinely 
blessed.
Knowing this, we can only imagine the shame and pain Sarah must have carried for 
most of her life as a childless woman.  - P58

This all changes, however, when God 
miraculously grants her a son and brings 
her from sorrow to laughter.  - P58

And Sarah rightly acknowledges that God, 
not her son, is the source of her joy.

Let us likewise look to God as our sourceand celebrate Him for the good things we receive. - P58

[NIV] 1 Now Abraham moved on from there into theregion of the Negev and lived between Kadesh and Shur.
For a while he stayed in Gerar, 2 and there Abraham saidof his wife Sarah, "She is my sister." Then Abimelek kingof Gerar sent for Sarah and took her. - P50

From the beginning of his journey, Abraham experiences God‘s help and favor time 
and again. But despite this, we discover 
Abraham cowering for the second time.  - P54

As he did in Egypt, Abraham asks Sarah totell Abimelek that she is his sister and, 
once again, allows his wife to be taken 
away by another man.  - P54

Instead of trusting in God, Abraham relies
on his cunning to keep himself safe.  - P54

Instead of reprimanding him for his lack of
 faith, however, God continues to show
 him favor, warning Abimelek to refrain
 from sinning against Him and commanding him to return Sarah to Abraham. - P54

 In His grace, God extends favor to theundeserving, a gift that cannot be earned but only freely received. - P54

Having discovered that Sarah is not Abraham‘s sister but his wife,Abimelek confronts Abraham for his dishonesty. This is a precarious situation because Abimelek is 
the ruler of the land.  - P54

From a human point ofview, Abraham has nothing to expect but retaliation. Yet somehow, he comes out of the situation not 
only unharmed but wealthier.  - P54

There is no explanation for this outcome 
other than God turning Abraham‘s evil
circumstances into good because of His covenant with him.  - P54

Because we are in God‘s hands, even a 
precarious situation can become a source
of blessing, and because we are in His hands, our lives are anchored in peace and 
hope, and we can become a blessing to 
others. - P54

이렇게 말합니다. ˝소리 내어 암송할 때 그 글들은 ...

이렇게 말합니다. "소리 내어 암송할 때 그 글들은 더 이상남의 글이 아니라 내 속에서 우러난 나의 글이었다."" - P78

성경의 언어로 말하고, 생각하고, 꿈을 꾸고, 행동하고,
살아가게 됩니다. 암송은 우리가 말씀이 되게 하고, 말씀을살게 합니다.
말씀의 실천은 읽기와 묵상, 암송의 자연스러운 결과입니다.  - P79

 성경책을 잃게 된 일라이는 이렇게 말하지요. 몇 년간책을 가지고 있으면서 매일 읽었지만, 정작 보존하는 데 급급한 나머지 배운 대로 살지 못했다고요. 성경을 읽어도 성경대로 살지 않으면 성경을 잃은 것과 진배없습니다.  - P79

성경을 암송하는 방법과 목적을 환기하면 좋겠습니다. 일부러외우려고 노력하기 전에 수없이 되풀이해서 읽다가 암송이저절로 되는 것이 좋으며, 그렇게 되풀이해 읽는 목적은 바로 암송한 대로 살기 위해서입니다.  - P79

성경 암송은 얼마나 많이 외우느냐를 자랑하기 위해서가 아니라 그렇게 살기 위해서 하는 것입니다.

하나님은 여호수아에게 직접 말씀하셨습니다. "이 책에있는 법이 네 입에서 떠나지 않게 밤낮으로 되새기며 거기에 적혀 있는 것을 어김없이 성심껏 실천하여야 한다. 그렇게만 하면 네 앞길이 열려 모든 일이 뜻대로 되리라"(수 1:8,공동번역 개정) - P79

말씀의 암송없이는 말씀의 실천도 없습니다. - P80

그런데도 묵상일기를 쓰라고 하는 까닭은 성경을 제대로 읽을 수 있기 때문입니다. 일기를 쓰면 묵상이 깊어집니다.  - P84

큐티를 나름 열심히 하지만 언제나 마음 한편이 찜찜합니다.
남는 게 없기 때문입니다. 해도 한 것 같지 않은 때가 많습니다. 오늘 뭘 읽었는지 도통 떠오르지 않습니다. 이럴 거면 왜하나 싶습니다. 그렇기에 기록하며 성경을 읽어야 합니다.

거의 매일 아침 나는 일기장을 펼쳐놓고 독서와 묵상과 일상의체험을 통해 듣는 하나님의 말씀을 기록한다. 일기장을 열면 내마음의 귀도 열린다. 하나님이 말씀하시려 하면 나는 들을 준비가 되어 있다.‘ - P85

묵상일기를 쓰는 단 하나의 이유는 말씀하시는 하나님을직접 뵙기 위해서입니다.  - P85

고민하던 중, 귀로만 들은 것은 5퍼센트 정도 기억에 남지만, 쓰면서 들은 것은 15퍼센트나 기억한다는 설교를 듣습니다. 그때부터 설교를 들으면 반드시 기록을 했습니다.
그 후 그는 변화를 경험합니다.  - P86
