성도는 자기를 보고 탄식하며가슴을 찢고 웁니다. 자신의 악함과 부패와 무능과 무자격, 죄가 만들어놓은 자신의 영적인 실존을 바라보고 하나님 앞에서 웁니다. - P36

성경은 남들이 뭐라 하거나 세상이 어떻게 평가하든 관계없이 우리가 가진 것과 이룬 것을 가지고 하나님 앞에서 자기의 영적인 실존을 바라보고 가슴을 찢으며 탄식하는 자가 복이 있다고말합니다.  - P36

세상 어디에도 없고 그 무엇으로도 살 수 없는, 하나님으로부터만 오는 영원하고 참된 위로가 그에게 있기 때문입니다. - P36

[오늘의 한문장] 모든 사람을 위한 성경 독서법

질문 없이는 답을 얻을 수 없다(No Question, No Answer!) - P138

성경을 제대로 읽고 묵상하고 연구하려면 질문이 필수적입니다. "정보를 구하기 위해서는 두 가지 방법밖에 없다는 것을 기억하자. 즉, 하나는 읽고 보는 것을 요구하는 관찰이고, 또 하나는 듣기를 요구하는 질문이다.""l - P138

관찰하면서 질문하고, 질문하면서 관찰하게 됩니다. 그런 면에서관찰은 곧 질문입니다. - P138

더 나아가 말씀의 의미를 해석하는 단계도 질문과 직결되어 있습니다. 묵상하는 구절을 관찰하면서 떠오른 질문에대한 대답을 찾는 과정이 해석입니다.  - P138

"왜 로마서에서 사도바울은 ‘복음을 자랑한다‘고 하지 않고 ‘부끄러워하지 않는다‘고 에둘러 표현했을까?" 하는 질문이 떠올랐다면, 이에대한 답변을 모색하는 것이 곧 본문 해석입니다.  - P139

질문 없이는 관찰도 없습니다. 질문 없이는 해석도 없습니다. 질문 없이는 적용도 없습니다. - P139

정신과 의사로서 그는 이것이 ‘생각하기 싫은 게으름‘ 때문이라고 합니다. 질문하려면 깊이생각해야 하는데, 그 과정이 귀찮으니 질문을 던지지 않은겁니다. 그리하여 생각하지 않는 것이 원죄라는 대담한 주장을 내놓은 것입니다. - P141

그의 주장은 다음 두 가지로 정리할 수 있습니다. 하나는성경이 하나님의 말씀이라는 겁니다. 하나님은 성경을 통하여, 성경 속에서 우리에게 부단히 말을 걸어 오십니다. 하나님이 우리에게 말씀하신다면, 우리 또한 하나님께 말을 건네야 하지 않겠습니까. 그 한 가지 방식이 질문인 거지요. - P143

성경을 읽음으로써 우리는 바른 질문을 하게되고, 성경을 읽을 때 우리는 바른 대답을 듣게 됩니다. - P144

As we reflect on Abra-ham‘s life,
 we see that he is truly the "father of faith," who embarkedon an incredible journey of trust and reliance upon God.  - P106

 The true hero of Abraham‘s story is God, who constantly filled Abraham‘s life with favor and even blesses his
 first son, Ishmael, by providing for him and multiplying his descendants although 
he is not a member of the covenant.  - P106

through, and that He will finish what He began in you. - P106

Dear Jesus, thank you for giving us faith and welcoming us into Your family.

이제 모세가 말할 차례다. 여러분은 어떻게 응답할 것인가? 파라오의 대답은 매우 직설적이다. 그에게는 일말의 모호함도 없다. 그는 여러분의 신을 알지 못하고, 이스라엘을 내보낼 생각도 없다. 타협의 여지도 없어 보인다. 여러분은 뭐라고응답할 작정인가? - P53

모세는 이런 탄원이 효과가 있다고 생각한 건가? 모세의탄원을 바꿔 말하면 이렇다. ‘파라오여, 우리는 우리 하나님이정말 두렵습니다. 우리가 사막에서 긴 주말을 보내며 그에게제사하지 않으면, 우리에게 무슨 일이 생길지 아무도 모릅니다. 제발, 우리를 그냥 보내주면 안 되겠습니까? 왕의 충성된노예들이 해를 당하는 것은 왕도 원치 않을 것입니다…………" - P55

파라오는 백성들이 게으르다 비난하며 (시간이 남으니까 사막 신께 제사드리려휴가를 꿈꾸는 것 아닌가?), 그게으름에 궁극적 ‘처방‘을 내린다.
즉 등골을 휘게 하는 심한 노동이 그것이다(출 5:17-18). - P56
