38 Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every oneof you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgivenessof your sins. And you will receive the gift of the HolySpirit. - P118

45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyonewho had need. - P119

Many in the crowd are convicted by Peter‘s words. After Peter encouragesthem to repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus, three thousand peopleput their faith in Christ Jesus.  - P119

The believers meet together every day, sharetheir possessions with one another, and have fellowship in their homes. Theyenjoy the favor of everyone, and God continues to add to their numbers. - P119

The realization that they had rejected their Messiah lays bare the heartsof Peter‘s hearers. It is likely that even those who at first mocked thedisciples are deeply convicted.  - P120

In their distress, they ask what they mustdo to atone for their actions. "Repent," says Peter.  - P120

And as a testimonyto their change of heart, they are then baptized in the name of the Onethey crucified. What follows is an outpouring of God‘s promised Spiriton their lives and the lives of their children.  - P120

Peter also affirms that thisSpirit is not only promised to these Jews but to those far off as well.
Believers today who have come from all different tribes and tongues canconfidently testify to this truth. - P120

The repentance of the three thousand who responded in faith to Peter‘swords is seen in the formation of a new and distinct community. It isa community marked by sacrifice, sharing, and a unity of purpose andfellowship unmatched by any other.  - P120

It is for this reason, together withthe wonders and signs performed by the apostles, that new believerscontinually join and become a part of this community.  - P120

As our ownchurches demonstrate these characteristics of community, together withthe unmistakable presence of God‘s Spirit, we can be certain that theLord will bless our communities and entrust us with more souls to nur-ture and care for.  - P120

율법의 의의는 (후손이신) 그리스도께서 오셔서 약속을 물려받으시고, 그 약속을 우리에게 나눠 주실 때까지 죄인들을 구원의 길에붙잡아 두는 데 있습니다. 이 율법이 하나님과의 직접적인 만남의 결과가 아니라는 점은 분명합니다. 그것은 천사들을 통해 중개자인 모세의 손을 거쳐 제정되었습니다.  - P617

그런데 시내산에서처럼 중개자가있다면, 사람들이 하나님과 직접 교제하는 것은 아니지 않습니까?
믿음으로 받는, 복에 관한 첫 약속은 하나님이 직접 주신 것입니다.
그렇다면 율법은 약속과 반대되는 것, 곧 우리를 향하신 하나님의 뜻과 반대되는 것일까요? 결코 그렇지 않습니다. 율법의 취지는,
우리 스스로는 하나님과 올바른 관계를 맺을 수 없음을 모든 사람에게 분명히 알리는 것입니다.  - P617

하나님께서 자신의 약속을 성취하실 때까지 믿음으로 기다림으로써만 얻을 수 있는 것을, 우리 스스로의노력으로 얻겠다고 종교 체계를 고안해 내는 것이 얼마나 쓸데없는짓인지 드러내 보이는 데 있습니다. 율법을 준수해서 우리 안에 생명을 창조할 능력이 있었다면, 우리는 벌써 생명을 얻고도 남았을것입니다 - P617

he quotes a psalm of King David which prophesies the Messiah‘s resurrection.
