But God uses thesetimes to strengthen our faith and grow our character. It may not be easy,
but it will be worth it, and God will use our faithfulness to accomplishthe purposes of His kingdom. - P98

 In 1Kings, we learn that because of Israel‘s disobedience and blatant idol-atry, they have been experiencing a severe drought. It is only throughElijah‘s faith and courage that the prophets of Baal are defeated. Thisleads Israel to understand the grave error of their ways and to turnaway from their idolatry and back to the Lord. - P99

 When we are612 in a spiritual drought, we may feel distant from God, lack a sense ofpurpose, or feel stunted in our spiritual growth. I know that whenI was in a season of spiritual drought, the main contributing factorwas a lack of spiritual disciplines such as praying, reading the Bible,
going to church, and having fellowship with other believers. This ledto feelings of isolation and complacency. - P99

How humbling! Intime, Elijah will pray and God will answer with fire from the heavens.
But first, this great servant of God must learn the life-changing lessonsof humility. He must learn that God‘s timing and ways are often dif-ferent from ours. - P90

When we have a scarcity mindset, we assume that we cannot be a blessing toothers. However, like the widow of Zarepath, the amount that we would havespent on a meal can be used by God to encourage a servant like Elijah. Considerfasting a meal today, and seek to offer a small gift to someone in ministry thatGod prompts you to encourage. - P91
