We often incorrectly assume God wants us to suffer for the gospel. Paul showsus that we should speak assertively and try to keep others from hurting us. Thishelps others sin less, promotes peace, and glorifies God. As you fast today, thinkabout your needs and ask God how you can be more assertive for His glory. - P95

The commander brings the Jewish leaders and Paul together to figure outwhat is going on. Paul knows that the Sadducees do not believe in the resur-rection, angels, or spirits whereas the Pharisees do. - P97
So, he talks about the hopeof the resurrection and this causes a dispute between the two parties. Thenext evening, God encourages Paul and says he must testify again in Rome. - P97
The Roman commander is still confused as to why Paul is being accused,
so he calls in the senior Jewish leaders to get some answers. - P98
AfterPaul speaks, the high priest orders that someone strike him on themouth. He does not take this lightly and condemns the high priest forviolating God‘s law. - P98
Though Paul is at the mercy of these powerful men,
he still speaks up for what is right. - P98
As servants of a King who rules froma throne of righteousness, it is our calling to speak the truth and standup for the oppressed when we are faced with an abuse of power. - P98
Eventhough it may come at a personal cost, let us draw courageLord Jesus and speak out against injustice. - P98
