We often hear people acknowledge God when they achieve somethingsignificant. It is not unusual to see famous people doing this, like whenmusicians thank God when they receive an award or when athletesacknowledge God after they win a game. - P136
It is good and fitting to giveglory to God when He grants us victory. He is the one who gives us thegifts and the opportunities that allow us to achieve great things. - P136
This iswhy we must point to Him as the ultimate reason for our successes. - P136
Butwe can also handle defeats and failures in a way that gives Him glory. God is good, kind, and loving toward us whether we win or lose, so wemust never grow weary of declaring His praise. - P136
It is a sad truth that many rulers in history have done only what wasright for themselves. These leaders were primarily motivated by theirown interests how the people lived and what they suffered was only asecondary consideration. - P136
David, however, tried to do what was just andright for his people. Yet even he failed his people on several occasions. - P136
The only perfect king this world has seen is Jesus Christ, who neverfails to do what is just and right for His people, even when lthey do notunderstand it. - P136
We see this most clearly on the cross. Motivated by Hislove for us and His obedience to the Father, Jesus took the sins of Hispeople upon Himself and died the death that we deserved. - P136
Lord Jesus, thank you that You are the greatest King. I praise You for takingon the penalty that I should have to pay for my sins. Let me always praise andserve You, for no other king compares to You. In Your name, amen. - P137
