[NIV] 18 When David had fled and made his escape,
he went to Samuel at Ramah and told him all that Saulhad done to him. Then he and Samuel went to Naiothand stayed there. - P46
19 Word came to Saul: "David is in Naioth at Ramah";20 so he sent men to capture him. But when they saw agroup of prophets prophesying, with Samuel standingthere as their leader, the Spirit of God came on Saul‘smen, and they also prophesied. - P46

until he came to Naioth.
24 He stripped off his garments, and he too prophesiedin Samuel‘s presence. He lay naked all that day and allthat night. This is why people say, "Is Saul also amongthe prophets?" - P47
David goes to Samuel at Ramah and tells him everything Saul has done. Thetwo men go to stay at Naioth. Saul sends men to capture David, but the Spiritof God comes upon them and they prophesy. - P47
Saul sends more men, and theyalso prophesy. Saul goes himself to Naioth but the Spirit of God comes on himand he prophesies, too. in - P47
The posse that Saul sends to capture David turns into a troupe ofprophets when the Spirit of God falls upon them. - P48
In many ways, thisscene brings to mind the story of Paul on the road to Damascus. Paulwas on his way to bring great harm upon the church, but instead, hewas transformed by God into the greatest missionary in Christian history. We see the heart of God and His good purposes in both these stories. - P48
He is not bent on destroying His enemies but wants them to know Himand, ultimately, turn to Him. - P48
God makes Himself known through themessage of the gospel, so let us take every opportunity to send forth Hisgood news to the ends of the earth. - P48
Saul also encounters God at Naioth, which causes him to prophesy. Thepeople ask if Saul is "among the prophets," and this suggests surpriseas well as suspicion. - P48
That Saul was given such an extraordinary gift ata time when he was bent on so much evil should be a warning to us.

Just because a person possesses an impressive spiritual gift does notnecessarily mean that they are walking with God. - P48
Outward displays ofspecial spiritual ability must always be matched with inward grace thatflows from genuine faith and bears the fruit of righteousness. - P48
As theapostle Paul teaches in his letter to the Corinthians, spiritual gifts aremeaningless if they are not practiced out of sincere love.
