I love entertaining-inviting my friends over, cooking food for them,
and enjoying their company in my home. I love every aspect of it,
except cleaning up! Cleaning is my least favorite house chore) and Iam a big procrastinator when it comes to the task. But when I haveguests coming over, I pull myself up and eagerly clean before theyarrive. There are several reasons why I am suddenly, (albeit reluctantly,
motivated to clean: I do not want my friends to think of me as a dirty,
lazy person; I want to have a good time with my friends in a pleasantenvironment; and above all, I do not want to disrespect my guests byhosting them in a messy home. - P41
mayOne of my favorite expressions is "labor of love." Certain things in lifebe difficult and time-consuming to do, but the very same thingscan also be joyful and meaningful when they are motivated by love.
Personally, I find great joy in cooking for my friends. While I can bequite lazy when cooking for myself and often do not bother) at all, Iwill happily put in the effort and time to cook something elaboratefor my guests. Their excitement and pleasure as they(feast on the mealmakes my hard work worth it. We all practice our own labors of loveduring the course of our week-from small, tedious chores that be-come enjoyable because they are done in service of the people we loveto the grand sacrifices that we make for the sake of our loved ones.
