*Bacchante... Silenus: a priestess of Bacchus, the god of wine and revelry, and the fat and jolly old man, always intoxicated, who attended Bacchus.
*wise Omar: Omar Khayyám (1048-1131), Persian astronomer, mathematician, and poet, known to the nineteenth-century English-speaking world for The Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám, a sequence of quatrains, translated and published anonymously in 1859 by English writer Edward FitzGerald (1809-83). FitzGerald‘s translation was popularized by Pre-Raphaelite poets such as Dante Gabriel Rossetti (1828-82) and Algernon Charles Swinburne (1837-1909) in the 1860s.
