	Mon 11 January 2010   Everything is snow. The whole country is in the grip of it and my village has been cut off for days. It is too slippery to walk up the hill to my bolthole so I am writing from my study at home. I look out of the window and see the world of Frozen Fire. The church, the graveyard, the houses, the hills – all are white, and there is a strange, heavy silence. Normally I hear the voices of children at playtime in the village school down the lane, but this is closed, and the only sound is my fingers tapping out the words.    -------------------   2010년 1월 11일 월요일  보이는 모든 것이 눈이에요. 나라 전체가 눈에 발이 묶여 버렸고, 우리 동네는 며칠째 모든 것이 중단된 상태랍니다. 언덕 넘어 작업실로 가는 길이 너무 미끄러워서 요즘은 집에서 글을 쓰고 있어요. 창밖을 바라보면 <프로즌 파이어>의 세상이 보입니다. 교회, 묘지, 집, 언덕, 그 모든 것이 하얗습니다. 그리고 이상하고 무거울 정도로 고요해요. 보통은 길 아래쪽 마을 학교에서 쉬는 시간에 아이들이 떠드는 소리가 들리곤 했는데, 지금은 학교도 문을 닫아서 들려오는 유일한 소리는 손가락으로 스토리를 치는 소리 뿐이랍니다.

	Mon 4 January 2010 Happy New Year to you all. I hope 2010 is good for you. January is a special time for Frozen Fire. Firstly, the novel is being launched in Korea – I am terribly excited about that – and secondly it is the month in which Dusty's adventure starts. She receives the phone call from the mysterious boy on New Year's Day. So this is Dusty's month. ------------------ 2010년 1월 4일 여러분 모두 행복한 새해 되길 바래요. 2010년은 여러분 모두에게 좋은 일만 가득하길 기원할게요. 1월은 <프로즌 파이어>에게 특별한 시간이랍니다. 첫째, 1월은 <프로즌 파이어>가 드디어 한국에서 출간되는 달이기 때문이구요. (사실 한국 출간에 전 완전 흥분되어 있답니다) 그리고 둘째, 1월은 더스티의 모험이 시작되는 달이기 때문이에요. 더스티는 새해 첫날에 정체를 알 수 없는 한 소년으로부터 전화 한 통을 받게 되거든요. 그래서 1월은 더스티의 달이에요.

	Mon 21 December 2009 The shortest day of the year. It is a time of endings. The Blade series is in its final pages. I feel strangely unwilling to stop writing. I want to find a reason for the story to continue. But that would be wrong. I know it must stop. The end of the story is as inevitable as the end of the year. I send all my Korean readers my heartfelt good wishes for 2010. Bless you all.
