14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who hasascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us holdfirmly to the faith we profess. - P50

16 Let us then approach God‘s throne of grace withconfidence, so that we may receive mercy and find graceto help us in our time of need. - P51

God‘s Word is alive and penetrates between soul and spirit, judging the realthoughts of the hearts of people. Nothing is hidden from God and everyonewill one day give account to Him.  - P51

Thus, because we have Jesus as a HighPriest who sympathizes with our weaknesses, we can approach the throneof God with confidence, finding mercy and grace to help in our time of need. - P51

As believers hold to the promise of entering God‘s rest, they are to be carefulnot to fall short of it. They are not to be like those who rebelled and neverentered it.  - P47

God‘s rest is still open for us to enter in and even today, God calls forpeople to hear His voice and not harden their hearts. Believers are encouragedto enter God‘s rest as they rest from their works. - P47

17 For this reason he had to be made like them, fullyhuman in every way, in order that he might becomea merciful and faithful high priest in service to God,
and that he might make atonement for the sins of thepeople. - P35

Jesus was made perfect through His suffering.  - P35

He makes believers holy andcalls them brothers and sisters. Jesus can do this because He shared in ourhumanity. This means His death has the power to break the devil‘s hold andset free whoever is enslaved by their fear of death.  - P35

By becoming fully human,
Jesus became humankind‘s High Priest and can help us when we are tempted. - P35

"Hebrews is basically a book that exhorts discouraged Christians to continue onstrong with Jesus in light of the complete superiority of who He is and what Hedid for us." - David Guzik - P26

Lord Jesus, all authority in the heavens and on the earth belongs to You. Maythe reality of Your universal lordship and reign be etched upon my mind andheart as I seek to faithfully serve You. In Your name, amen. - P27

At first, it might be confusing to see Jesus being called the "firstborn."
This seems to imply that Jesus is a created being like the angels. But theword "firstborn" is often used in Scripture as a title given by God thatdenotes a position of preeminence.  - P26

For example, the nation of Israel iscalled God‘s firstborn (Exod. 4:22). The title of firstborn is used in thispassage of Hebrews to emphasize that Jesus is higher than the angels.
- P26

Angels are created servants of God, but Jesus is the only Son of Godwho was with Him in the beginning when He created the heavens andthe earth, and whose throne will last forever and ever. - P26

yourself to linger in the passage. Don‘t rush to fill the silence with pe-titions or resolutions. Pay attention to the details Scripture gives youabout Jesus the words He likes to use, the things that delight Him, how Scripture describes Him.  - P27

When you give yourself time to savorGod, quiet time truly becomes quality time. - P27
