"저기가 바로 우리 백제의 관미성입니다. 원래 ‘미‘는 ‘널리가득하다‘는 의미로 물을 뜻합니다. 여기서 조금 남쪽으로 내려가면 큰 항구가 있는데 미추홀(인천)이라고 하지요. 백제를건국하신 온조대왕의 형님 비류 왕자가 처음 나라의 도읍을 정했던 땅으로, 미추홀의 ‘ㅁ‘자 역시 물을 의미하지요. 관미성이 있는 작은 섬인 고목근은 한수로 통하는 관문 역할을 하는우리 백제의 요새입니다. 섬 둘레에 석성을 쌓아 바다로 들어오는 외적을 방비토록 한 것입니다. - P16

Mary is pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they come together,
she is found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit. Joseph has in mind todivorce Mary quietly, but an angel of the Lord appears to him and tells himthat what is conceived in Mary is from the Holy Spirit. Joseph does as the angelcommanded him. He names the child Jesus. - P125

Matthew‘s Gospel begins with a scandal. We can only imagine thehostility Mary endured as her pregnancy became apparent to otherseven Joseph initially planned to divorce her.  - P126

But God‘s grace triumphs.
Through an angelic appearance, Joseph is assured that Mary has notbetrayed him. Her conception is nothing less than the creative powerof God through the Holy Spirit.  - P126
