하나님, 내가 이렇게 부르짖습니다.
‘주님은 나의 마지막 기회, 내 삶의 유일한 희망!‘
오 제발, 귀를 기울이소서.
이렇게 바닥까지 떨어진 적은 없습니다.
나를 뒤쫓는 자들에게서 나를 구하소서. - P403

주께서 행하신 모든 일을 곰곰이 되새겨 보았습니다.
사막이 비를 갈망하듯이 내가 주님을 갈망하며주님 향해 두 손을 높이 들었습니다.
하나님 속히 응답하소서!

내가 진심으로 말한다. 너희 가운데 두사람이 땅에서 어떤 일로 함께 모여서 기도하면, 하늘에 계신 내 아버지께서 행동을 취하실 것이다. 또한 너희 중에 두세 사람이 나 때문에 모이면, 나도 반드시 거기에 함께 있는 줄 알아라." - P99

 "내가 단호하게 말한다. 처음으로 돌아가서 어린아이처럼 다시 시작하지 않는 한, 너희는 천국에 들어가는 것은고사하고 천국을 보지도 못할 것이다. 누구든지 이 아이처럼 꾸밈없이 순진해지면, 하나님 나라에서 높은 서열에 들 것이다. 또한 너희가 나를 생각해서 어린아이 같은 사람을 받아들이면, 곧 나를 받아들이는 것과 같다. - P98

우리는 말하며 산다. 하나님이 우리에게 주신 말씀과 우리가 그분께 기도로 드리는말씀으로 산다. 말은 인간 조건의 핵심이다. 하나님이 말씀하시고우리가 기도하는 모든 시간에, 유혹하고 아첨하며 속여서 불신의행위를 부추기는 말들이 우리의 언어에 슬그머니 들어온다.  - P105

하나님의 역사는 우리가 잠든 사이 우리의 도움 없이 시작된다.
그분은 우리가 예배하고 순종하는 낮에도 계속 일하신다.  - P106

야곱은 외삼촌 라반에게서 도망치다가 길르앗에서 붙잡혔다. 라반은야곱이 자기에게 사기를 쳤다고 생각했다. 야곱은 라반이 분명 자기를 속였다고 여겼다. 길르앗에서 그들은 논쟁을 벌이고 기도한끝에 합의에 이른다. 그들은 기둥을 세워 제단을 쌓고 그 앞에서언약의 음식을 먹었으며, 그 기둥의 이름을 ‘감찰하는 곳‘[Watchingplace, ‘미스바‘(Mizpah)]이라고 지었다.  - P107

미스바는 아침마다 자주 되풀이되는 경계선의 체험이다. 우리는 우리의 소망과 두려움을 한데 모아 그분께 내어놓고 그분이 이루실 일을 보기를 기대한다.  - P107

Put plainly, compassion is the act of showing concernand sympathy for others. As Psalm 86:15 states, "But you, Lord, areand gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in lovea compassionateand faithfulness." - P57

The compassion of God, and the 
subsequent compassion He expects us to 
show others, is revealed in the story of the prodigal son in Luke15. After squandering his portion of the family inheritance, 
a way-ward son returns home in hopes 
of being allowed back as a mereservant. To his surprise, the compassionate father embraces him andfully restores his honor as a beloved son. But that is not the full story.
In the background is the elder brother who resents his father‘s display of
compassion. So enraged is the elder brother that while speaking tohis father he can not even acknowledge his brother as a brother but only as this son of yours" 
Blinded by his own self-righteousness, theelder brother cannot rejoice in his brother‘s redemption. - P57
