˝내가 말하는 것들은 하나님께서 약속하신 말씀 위에...

 "내가 말하는 것들은 하나님께서 약속하신 말씀 위에 서야 합니다. 하나님께서 ‘내가 결코 너희를 떠나지 아니하리라‘고 말씀하셨습니다."
오늘 묵상의 원제는 "God‘s say-so" 입니다. 모든 것은 하나님께서 친히 하신 말씀에 근거합니다. 이 말씀을 붙들 때 우리는 두려움에 갇히지 않습니다.  - P183

하나님께서 하신 말씀을 듣는 것이야말로 두려움을 이기는 유일한 방법입니다. "우리인생길에 악한 일이나 잘못된 일이 발생해도 상관없습니다. 그 이유는 주께서 내가 너희를 결코 떠나지 아니하리라‘고 말씀하셨기 때문입니다."

우리가 살면서 참 곤혹스러운 때는 악한 일들을 경험할 때입니다. 하나님께서 선하시다면 왜 이런 일들이일어나는지 이해되지 않을 때가 있습니다. 그런데 중요한 것은 그런 상황 가운데서도 하나님은 우리를 결코 떠나지 않으신다는 것입니다." - P183

시작하는지 알아야 악보를 읽을 수 있습니다. 하나님 말씀의 ‘으뜸음‘을 듣는 것은 하나님의 말씀이 기준이 되어야 한다는 뜻입니다. 하나님께서는 우리의 ‘도움‘이 되신다고 했습니다. 그러니 우리는 어떤 어려움과 난관을 만나더라도 그음계에서부터 시작하고 선포해야 합니다.

그러나 ‘죄‘는 사람들 속에 찾아온 아주 나쁜 성향입니다. 왜곡된 의지는죄의 성향으로 나타납니다. 중요한 것은 하나님께서 주신 ‘의지‘를 우리가 축복으로 사용하지 못한다는 사실입니다. 의지를 잘못 사용하여 죄가 들어올 뿐 아니라. 심지어 그 의지를 주신 하나님을 원망하는 경우도 있다는 것입니다. - P184

그런데 하나님을 향한 우리의 선한 의지를 방해하는 것이 있습니다. 바로 ‘고집‘입니다. "고집은 우리 속에 뭉쳐 있는 장애물로서 ‘깨달음‘을 거부하는 어리석은 성향입니다. 이를 제거하는 방법은 오직 다이너마이트로 터뜨리는 것. 곧 성령님께 순종하는 것입니다.
‘고집‘은 우리의 왜곡된 의지입니다. 때로 우리는 이 잘못된 의지를 ‘신념이라는이름으로 포장하기도 합니다. 챔버스는 성령님께 순종하는 것이 이 싸움에서 승리하는 길이라고 말합니다. 순종할 때, 우리는 마치 다이너마이트로 터뜨리는 것과 같은 능력을 경험할 것입니다.  - P184

순종할 때, 우리의 의지가 하나님과 하나 되어자연스럽게 호흡합니다. 이때 우리는 하나님의 뜻이 이루어지고 있음을 고백할것입니다.
한 줄 노트 우리의 의지와 하나님의 뜻이 일치하기 위해서는 성령님께 ‘순종‘해야 합니다. 내 고집으로성령님을 거스르지 않도록 하십시오. - P184

38At the Lord’s command Aaron...

38At the Lord’s command Aaron the priest went up Mount Hor, where he died on the first day of the fifth month of the fortieth year after the Israelites came out of Egypt.

39Aaron was a hundred and twenty-three years old when he died on Mount Hor - P40

Another impactful event along the Israelites’ journey was the death of Aaron. The leader was brother to Moses and a priest who offered sacrifices on behalf of the people. He had traveled with them for over forty years, and his death on Mount Hor resulted in a significant shift in leadership as the Israelites prepared to enter the promised land. - P42

A change in leadership can be disconcerting for both for the followers and the remaining leaders. When we continue to seek God, however, change does not need to be unsettling or worrisome. - P42

It can mark the start of a new season in the journey ahead, with God as our ultimate leader and guide. - P42

When entering the promised land, the Israelites are told that they mustdestroy all the carved images, idols, and high places where other gods areworshiped. Every inhabitant is also to be driven out because they will be-come like barbs and thorns, causing trouble for them. These directionsfrom God give us a picture of what idolatry can do.  - P42

Allowing even a smallportion of idolatry to remain in our lives is like allowing a thorn to remainon our clothes and poke into our side. It will be painful and will distract usfrom focusing on God and His work.  - P42

We must not tolerate even a "small"
idol because it can grow into a much bigger problem in the future. avis que - P42

Dear Lord, I confess that I sometimes allow idols to distract me from You. Please uproot these idols from my life so that I can stay focused on You and on building up Your kingdom. In Your name, amen. - P43

In our requests to the Lord, we do not always have the same level of obedience and trust that this boy had with his grandmother. When God says "no"
or tells us to wait patiently, we sometimes ignore Him and take what wewant anyway.  - P47

We do not hold on to our requests lightly. We only focus onwhat we desire. In our short-sighted selfishness, we might be happy initially,
but we often experience the consequences of our actions later on, and webegin to see why God denied or delayed our requests.  - P47

It can be difficult toaccept a different answer from what we expected, but as we form a closerrelationship with the Lord, we build a history of trust and can respond likethe little boy who knew that his grandmother knew best. - P47

주님께서 말씀하신 ˝내가 너희를 떠나지 아니하리라˝라...

주님께서 말씀하신 "내가 너희를 떠나지 아니하리라"라는 말씀을 붙들면 ‘현재‘
‘지금 이 순간‘에도 우리에게 임하시는 놀라운 힘을 고백할 수 있습니다. 그렇게우리는 평범한 날들과 생활 속에서 하나님을 찬양하는 법을 배우게 됩니다. ‘현재‘, ‘지금 이 순간‘ 하나님의 은혜를 느끼며 사는 것이야말로 그리스도인의 가장큰 특권일 것입니다. 하나님은 지금 이 순간 우리에게 이렇게 말씀하십니다. "내가 너희를 떠나지 아니하리라!"
한줄노트 일상에서 하나님의 은혜를 누리는 방법은 "내가 너희를 떠나지 아니하리라"고 하신 약속을붙드는 것입니다. - P182

하나님께서 우리에게 친히 말씀하시는데 우리는 무엇을 의심합니까?
우리가 들어야 하는 것은 절대로 우리를 포기하지 않으신다는 하나님의 음성입니다. 하나님께서는 모든 죄와 이기심, 고집과 탈선에도 불구하고 우리를 절대로버리지 않겠다고 말씀하셨습니다.

챔버쓰는 주님의 이러한 약속의 말씀을 들어야 하는 때가 있다고 말합니다. 바로 우리 삶에서 하나님이 나를 버리셨다고 느끼는 순간입니다. 우리의 삶이 어려워지거나, 우리의 비전이 지루하게 느껴질 때입니다. 하나님이 느껴지지 않을때, 우리가 들어야 하는 것은 하나님의 약속의 말씀입니다. "내가 너희를 떠나지 아니하리라!" 누가 말씀하고 있습니까? 하나님께서 친히 말씀하십니다(Godsays so!). - P182

1Here are the stages in the journey of the Israelites when they came out of Egypt by divisions under the leadership of Moses and Aaron.

2At the Lord’s command Moses recorded the stages in their journey. This is their journey by stages:

3The Israelites set out from Rameses on the fifteenth day of the first month, the day after the Passover. They marched out defiantly in full view of all the Egyptians, - P34

Israel‘s journey from Egypt to the plains of Moab is recounted. Each stageis recorded, starting from Rameses after the Passover. They travel throughthe wilderness, encamping at places like Marah, Elim, Mount Sinai, Kadesh,and Mount Hor - P35

Before the Israelites enter the promised land, Moses recounts their journey, reminding them of all the places they have been. From the time God brought them out of slavery in Egypt to each place along the way to the promised land, He has been with His people. - P38

Before we move forward in our own personal journeys, it is sometimes helpful to pause and look back. - P38

We can take note of where we have been and the ways in which God has been with us at each stage along the way, caring for us and guiding us. Such reflection encourages a renewed perspective and greater appreciation for what lies ahead. - P38

We step forward confidently, knowing that God is with us and is fulfilling all that He has promised. - P38

As Moses goes through the list of places where the Israelites have camped,
he mentions Rephidim with the reminder that this was where there was nowater for the people to drink. This description will prompt the people toremember that they tested God on that occasion. When they were facedwith a lack of water, they forgot all the other miracles that had already taken-place. God proved Himself again, providing water despite the Israelites‘
grumbling and their questioning whether God was really among them.

When we face challenges, may we not be so easily tempted into questioning God‘s goodness. Let us instead meditate on all the ways He has beenfaithful to us. - P38

When reading the book of Numbers, some of us may feel frustrated withthe Israelites. We may wonder how they could show such lack of faithwhen God had performed so many miracles for them. He sent plagues anddivided the Red Sea when He saved them out of slavery in Egypt and Heprovided daily manna for them in the wilderness. Why would the Israelitesever think that God would not provide water for them? How could theybelieve that He would allow them to die in the wilderness and not bringthem to the fertile land that He promised?

we mayWhilebe tempted to criticize the Israelites, we often fall into sim-ilar sins. Many of us have experienced the continual faithfulness of God,
and yet we are quick to complain when challenges come our way. We loseconfidence in the God who has saved us and loves us dearly. But we do nothave to give in to discontentment. We can re-train ourselves in how werespond to challenges.  - P39

Instead of reacting with complaints, we can shift ourinstinctual response to one of reflection. As we stop and remember all thetimes that God has been faithful to us, our negativity, fear, and anxiety arereplaced with hope, faith, and peace. Instead of losing confidence in God,

we are assured of His love and goodness. Rather than reacting to our exter-nal circumstances, we rely on our relational trust in Him. Our challengesare then no longer moments of testing God but exciting opportunities togrow in faith and see His steadfast love for us once again. - P39

Dear God, thank you that You have been faithful at every step of my journey. When I face challenges along the way, help me remember the many ways You have shown Your love and care for me. In Jesus’ name, amen. - P39

The pebble reminds me of how disruptive an idol can be. Allowing eventhe smallest bit of idolatry to creep into my life affects my entire being,
preventing me from moving forward in my walk with God. I am no longerfocused on the beauty around me because I am instead focused on the idolthat demands my attention.

Unlike a pebble in a shoe, an idol can be a desirable source of temptation. However, I hope that I will perceive idols like the smallest pebblesor twigs undesirable nuisances that affect my walk and distract me fromappreciating the beauty around me.  - P43

If I detect a small idol trying to creep itsway in, I pray that I would stop immediately and ensure that it is no longerpresent in my life so that I can continue to enjoy my walk with the Lord. - P43

31The Gadites and Reubenites ...

31The Gadites and Reubenites answered, "Your servants will do what the Lord has said.

32We will cross over before the Lord into Canaan armed, but the property we inherit will be on this side of the Jordan."

33Then Moses gave to the Gadites, the Reubenites and the half-tribe of Manasseh son of Joseph the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan—the whole land with its cities and the territory around them - P30

Moses communicates the details of the agreement with Joshua, who will be the new leader of Israel, Eleazar the priest, and the heads of the Israelite tribes. Moses tells the leaders that they must give the land of Gilead to the Gadites and Reubenites if they fight alongside the rest of Israel. - P32

If the Gadites and Reubenites do not keep their word, then they must accept their portion of the land in Canaan. Regardless of their actions, Reuben and Gad will remain a part of the community. - P32

The leaders will not allow disagreements or failures to divide God’s people. In our own church communities, may we also seek to remain unified and use our words and actions to encourage, exhort, and correct one another. - P32

The tribes of Reuben and Gad conquer the land and build fortified citiesand sturdy pens so that the women, children, and animals will be safe untilthe men return from war after crossing the Jordan.  - P32

Part of the tribe ofManasseh also captures the land and settles in the area. The tribes of Israeldo not sit lazily, expecting blessings to be handed to them. They do thework of fighting for the cities and building the pens in the land they arereceiving as their inheritance.  - P32

Sometimes, we assume that God will simplyhand our desired blessings to us. However, we often need to take activesteps to receive all that He has for us. - P32

"Hearts on earth say in the course of a joyful experience, ‘I don‘t want this ever to end."
But invariably it does. The hearts of those in heaven say, ‘I want this to go on forever."

Dear Father, it can be easy to allow disagreements to divide and destroy my community. Help me see from Your perspective so that I may foster unity, understanding, and love. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen. - P33
