For those who are in Christ, we have begun to taste the fulfillment of this deep desire as we find rest in God’s presence. - P152

산상수훈은 주님께서 불특정 다수를 향해 하신 말씀이아니라, 예수님을 따르겠다고 나아온 사람들에게 하신 말씀입니다. 적어도 오늘이 말씀을 묵상하기 위해 앉아 있는 우리를 향한 말씀입니다.  - P207

 성경에서 오른쪽은 선하고 좋은 것이라는 의미를 가지고 있습니다. 그럼에도 불구하고 주님을 따르는 데방해가 된다면 그것을 잘라버리라는 것입니다. 하나님을 믿지 않는 사람들에게는 충격적인 말일지도 모르나, 주님을 따르겠다고 나아온 사람들에게는 꼭 필요한 훈련임에 틀림없습니다. - P207

한줄노트  가장 귀한 것을 선택하는 일은 덜 귀한 것을 기꺼이 내어놓는 것입니다. - P207

성령께서는 이제까지 자연스럽게 해온 행동들을 막으십니다. 삶의 방식을 바꾸는 것은 많은 것을 포기하고 내어놓아야 하기에 고통스럽습니다. 하지만 그것이옳은 길, 생명의 길이라면 기꺼이 내어놓아야 합니다. 주님께서 우리의 행동을막으시는 일이 우리를 영적으로 온전하게 만드시는 훈련의 과정이라면 기꺼이따라야 하지 않겠습니까? 그러나 이 영적 훈련이 모든 사람에게 동일하지 않다는 사실을 주의하십시오.  - P207

주님께서 ‘나‘를 훈련시키는 기준으로 다른 사람을 판단하거나 비난하지 마십시오. 중요한 것은 주님께서 훈련시키실 때, 기꺼이 포기하고 온전치 않은 모습이 될 준비가 되어 있느냐 하는 것입니다.

The psalmist pleads with God to act against Israel‘s enemies, who conspire todestroy them. The psalmist recalls past victories and asks God to defeat Hispeople‘s enemies again.  - P147

He prays that their enemies‘ faces be covered withshame, so that they will seek God‘s name and recognize He is the Most Highover all the earth. - P147

The raw emotions of the Psalms can make us uncomfortable, especially inpassages that sound confrontational. Like life, the Psalms are full of complex emotions and they provide us with the language to cry out to God ina deeply honest way.  - P148

The book of Psalms shows us that we can call out toGod even in His moments of silence, trusting that He will be faithful as Hehas been in the past.  - P148

Amid his outcry, the psalmist‘s ultimate goal is not thedestruction of his enemies; he concludes his prayer with the request thatGod‘s name be sought by those very enemies.  - P148

Even when we bring painfulemotions to God, prayer is not about convincing Him to carry out ourdesires.  - P148

Prayer is our way of pouring out our heart to God while allowingHis glory to take center stage. - P148

하나님이 택하실 때우리가 하나님의 일을 할 수 있는 이유는 우리의 자격이 아니라 하나님이 먼저 우리에게 베풀어주신 은혜 때문입니다.  - P206

하나님께서는 복음 전하는 자를 택하실 때, 재능이나 기질에 근거하지 않으십니다. 우리를 택하시는 순간, 하나님께서 사용하실 수 있도록 우리 자신을 내어드려야 합니다. "모든 그리스도인은 증인이 되어야 하지만, 말씀을 전파하는 것은당신을 아프도록 붙드시는 하나님의 손이 있어야 합니다."

우리가 하나님의 목표에 의식적으로 동의해서, 즉 선택해서 나아가는 것이 아닙니다. 무의식 가운데 강권하시는 하나님으로 인해 나아가는 것입니다. 이 말이 쉽지 않습니다. ‘부르심‘은 분명하게 우리가 선택할 수 있는 것이 아닙니다.
나의 의지로는 하나님의 부르심을 완성할 수 없습니다. 그러니 하나님이 우리를부르시고 강권하심을 느껴야 합니다.
