엄밀히 말한다면, 봉사는 부르심이 아니라 하나님의 속성과 나의 속성이 일치된 모습이 현실 속에서 드러나는 것입니다.
하나님을 섬긴다는 것은 주님의 부르심을 듣고 마음을 다해 사랑의 표현을 하는 것입니다. 봉사는 내 속성에 맞는 것이 표현된 것인 반면 하나님의 부르심은그분의 속성이 표현된 것입니다." - P29

하나님의 부르심의 영역 속에 들어가려면, 우리에게 근본적인 깊은 변화가 있어야 합니다." 부르심을 듣지 못하는 이유는 우리 내면 깊은 곳에서 변화가 일어나지 않기 때문입니다. 순종 없는 따름은 존재하지 않습니다. 힘들더라도 계속 순종하며 따라간다면 하나님이 이끄시는 곳에 있게 될 것입니다. 이것이 우리가 추구해야 하는 ‘순종의 길‘입니다. 끊임없이 항복하는 훈련은 우리의 의지가 아닌하나님의 성품을 따르기 위한 훈련입니다. - P28
