- P153

God instructs Moses on the procedure to follow for a Nazirite who has com-pleted his or her vow. After the vow is fulfilled, the Nazirite must offer a burntoffering, a sin offering, a fellowship offering, and a grain and drink offering.
- P153

While the previous section regulates the actions of the ongoing Nazirite, God now explains how a person concludes his or her dedication period. The person must bring three animal sacrifices along with other food offerings and shave off their hair to burn under the sacrifice of the fellowship offering; this symbolizes previous devotion and current surrender to the holy God.  - P156

God tells Moses to direct the priests, Aaron and his sons, in how to bless thepeople of Israel. The blessing indicates how much He desires to bestow Hisfavor uponHis people. He wants to shine upon them and grant Hisand peace to them.  - P156

Many centuries later, God continues to love, guard,
sustain, and comfort His people. Just as God put His name on the Israelitesand blessed them, He identifies us as His children and continues to pourout His blessings upon us.  - P156

Let us therefore live up to our roles as childrenof God, spreading the name of His Son Jesus Christ and blessing others aswe have been blessed. - P156

Heavenly Father, thank you for all of the blessings You have given me. Because You love and care for me, I have everything I need. May I receive Your grace and peace and freely share it with others. In Jesus’ name, amen. - P156

"The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine on you and begracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace." - Numbers6:24-26 - P157

1 Corinthians 3:4-5 NLT
[4] When one of you says, "I am a follower of Paul," and another says, "I follow Apollos," aren’t you acting just like people of the world? [5] After all, who is Apollos? Who is Paul? We are only God’s servants through whom you believed the Good News. Each of us did the work the Lord gave us.

2"Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘If a man or woman wants to make a special vow, a vow of dedication to the Lord as a Nazirite,

3they must abstain from wine and other fermented drink and must not drink vinegar made from wine or other fermented drink. They must not drink grape juice or eat grapes or raisins. - P148

5"‘During the entire period of their Nazirite vow, no razor may be used on their head. They must be holy until the period of their dedication to the Lord is over; they must let their hair grow long. - P148

6"‘Throughout the period of their dedication to the Lord, the Nazirite must not go near a dead body.

7Even if their own father or mother or brother or sister dies, they must not make themselves ceremonially unclean on account of them, because the symbol of their dedication to God is on their head.

- P148

10Then on the eighth day they must bring two doves or two young pigeons to the priest at the entrance to the tent of meeting.

11The priest is to offer one as a sin offering and the other as a burnt offering to make atonement for the Nazirite because they sinned by being in the presence of the dead body. That same day they are to consecrate their head again.
- P149

God instructs Moses on the Nazirite vow, through which individuals dedicatethemselves to God for a period of time. Nazirites must abstain from wine,
avoid cutting their hair, and not come into contact with dead bodies.  - P149

If aNazirite becomes defiled, they must offer sacrifices to purify themselves andrededicate themselves for the same amount of time. - P149

The prohibition of going near a dead body during the period of dedication further asserts that a Nazirite is consecrated to the Lord. Even if the Nazirite is near a death by accident, great measures are taken for rededication because the person has become ceremonially unclean. These high standards remind us that death is not a part of God. He is the source of eternal life. - P150

He sent His Son to conquer death once and for all by dying on the cross. We do not have to undergo elaborate rituals because Jesus paid the price in full for our sins. - P150

Today, we can treasure Jesus’ perfect sacrifice by offering Him our whole hearts and joyfully obeying His commands. - P150

Becoming a Nazirite means taking a special vow unto the Lord to further demonstrate devotion to God. - P150

During the dedication period, a Nazirite gives up alcoholic drinks that might affect a person’s concentration in order to focus more intently on God. - P150

While we are to live faithfully and fight against sin each day, we can also demonstrate our love of God by voluntarily going further in our dedication. - P150

Just as growing long hair would let others plainly see a Nazirite’s vow of commitment, we are to be bold in living intentionally for God in all areas of our lives. When we do so, we show that the love and character of God has captured our hearts, and we belong fully to Him. - P150

One way that we can live as people who are set apart is to engage in thepleasures of knowing God: reading our physical Bibles or taking prayerwalks in creation without looking at our phones.  - P151

As we redirect our focustoward our Lord, we will begin to recognize and experience the joy andpeace of remaining in His presence, and we will remember that spendingtime with God is the best pleasure of all. - P151

Dear God, hallelujah for Jesus has conquered death! He became the ultimate sacrifice so that all of Your people might be cleansed from their sins. In response, I voluntarily dedicate my life, receiving the joy that comes from living wholeheartedly for You. In Jesus’ name, amen. - P151

John 2:5 NLT
[5] But his mother told the servants, "Do whatever he tells you."
- P106

Luke 12:40 NLT
[40] You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected." - P107

13so that another man has sexual relations with her, and this is hidden from her husband and her impurity is undetected (since there is no witness against her and she has not been caught in the act), - P142

20But if you have gone astray while married to your husband and you have made yourself impure by having sexual relations with a man other than your husband"—

21here the priest is to put the woman under this curse—"may the Lord cause you to become a curse among your people when he makes your womb miscarry and your abdomen swell. - P143

27If she has made herself impure and been unfaithful to her husband, this will be the result: When she is made to drink the water that brings a curse and causes bitter suffering, it will enter her, her abdomen will swell and her womb will miscarry, and she will become a curse.

28If, however, the woman has not made herself impure, but is clean, she will be cleared of guilt and will be able to have children. - P145

31The husband will be innocent of any wrongdoing, but the woman will bear the consequences of her sin.’" - P145

God provides instructions for dealing with a woman suspected of adultery. Ifa husband suspects his wife of infidelity but has no proof, he must bring herto the priest, who performs a ritual involving bitter water. If the woman isguilty, she will suffer a curse; if innocent, she will remain unharmed and willbe able to conceive. - P143

This test for an unfaithful wife may offend our modern cultural sensibilities, but the intention behind this guideline is to prevent the husband from assuming the worst about his wife. He is not allowed to make frivolous accusations and take matters into his own hands. He must let go of his feelings of jealousy and submit to the Lord’s protocol. - P146

especially when we feel unloved and suspect we have been betrayed. No matter how we feel, we should not seek revenge since we trust that God is the judge who will rule correctly in His timing. - P146

God will punish. Adultery is serious, impacting our relationship with God as much as with our spouse, and it also defiles the community of faith. - P146

God’s people are to avoid all forms of sexual immorality, and those of us who are married are to be fully dedicated to our spouses, ever seeking to carry out the vows that we made on our wedding day. - P146

Dear Lord, I praise You for You are a God of order and covenant. Teach me to love selflessly and sacrificially and to abide by Your commands. - P147

Whether I am married or single, I commit to being faithful to the covenants I have made before You. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen. - P147

However, eachof us should always be looking for new opportunities to express our devo-tion to the people we love. Just as we are to put fresh oil in our lamps ofdevotion unto God, let us put fresh oil into our relationships, continuallyshowing how much we love and care for one another. - P147
