He knows that the news he has is devastating forall of Israel and he grieves over it. What has happened goes beyond theenemy capture of a religious artefact: the symbol of God‘s glory is nowin the hands of the Philistines. The nation is dishonored.  - P154

How do wereact when others treat God with disrespect? When we see others pushGod out of their lives, do we mourn? God is jealous for His glory andthe souls of His own, so as His children we must be, too.  - P154

왜 갑자기 눈물이 나왔을까를 복기해 보았습니다. 돌아보니 하나님의 은혜 때문이었습니다. 하나님이 1986년에 이 교회를 세우시고, 지금까지 인도하셨으며, 저희로 하여금 이 예배당을 지키며 예배하게 하셨다는 생각에 마음 깊은 곳에서부터 감사가 나왔습니다. 그리고 낙심하지 않게 하시고, 포기하지 않게 하셔서 지금까지 올 수 있었음에 감사했습니다. 당장 눈에 보이는 열매는 없지만, 하나님이 우리 가정을 단단하게 만들고 계신다는 것에 감사할 수밖에 없었습니다. 그 감사 때문에 기도하면서 눈물이 쏟아진 것이었습니다. - P103

첫째: 아빠, 오늘 설교를 들으면서 제 생일이 조금 특별하다는 것을 알았어요.

그날 설교 내용이 속죄일 규례였는데, 속죄일이 7월 10일이어서그렇답니다. 설교를 준비하고 설교를 하면서도, 첫째 생일과 속죄일의 날짜가 같다는 생각을 전혀 하지 못했습니다. 첫째는 아무래도 자기 생일과 같은 날짜라고 속죄일이 뜻깊게 다가왔나 봅니다. 물론 첫째에게 진실을 말할 수는 없었습니다. 유대인들의 달력으로 7월 10일(현대 양력으로 9월 말~10월 초)이라는 사실을요. - P108
