3Here a great number of disabled people used to lie—the blind, the lame, the paralyzed.

5One who was there had been an invalid for thirty-eight years.

- P82

16So, because Jesus was doing these things on the Sabbath, the Jewish leaders began to persecute him.

17In his defense Jesus said to them, "My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working."

18For this reason they tried all the more to kill him; not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God. - P83

How we view God affects our understanding of His Word, which in turn determines how we view and treat others—whether, like Jesus, we extend grace and mercy, or, like the religious leaders, dish out judgment and condemnation. - P84

we take time to savor the work we accomplished in and through Christ. Busyness breeds barrenness. It is anything but restful. But when our work is intertwined with the purposes of God, our souls are nourished, and our spirits find rest even during hectic times. - P84

Insteadof absorbing news compulsively or buying things impulsively, let us remember that Jesus is the only one that we need. - P85

Equip me to live a lifethat extends grace to those with whom I come in contact, whoever they may be. Teachme to fully enjoy the rest that comes from abiding in Your grace. In Your name, amen. - P85

52When he inquired as to the time when his son got better, they said to him, "Yesterday, at one in the afternoon, the fever left him."

53Then the father realized that this was the exact time at which Jesus had said to him, "Your son will live." So he and his whole household believed.

54This was the second sign Jesus performed after coming from Judea to Galilee.

- P79

There is no hierarchy, no special privilege among us in matters of life and death. In times like these, we are all beggars without hope apart from God’s mercy. - P80

Our faith rests upon the person of Christ and not on what He does or does not do in our lives and world. - P80
