Both in ancient times and today, humanity finds it easy to judge. We can easily point a finger at others and criticize them with our words or even within our hearts. However, Jesus warns that we will be judged in the same way that we judge others. We show our hypocrisy and pride when we point out others’ faults and fail to notice that our own sin is much greater. - P142

We are to deal with our own sinful inclinations and shortcomings first, humbling ourselves before God. Then, we will be able to point out the shortcomings of others because we actually care for them and speak from a place of humility rather than hypocrisy and pride. - P142

1"Do not judge, or you too will be judged.

2For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

- P136

7"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.

8For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

9"Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone?

10Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake?

11If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!

- P137

12So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets. - P137

The words "ask," "seek," and "knock" are verbs of action. Jesus explainsthat if we are active in seeking God, then we can be assured that He willrespond. We can pray specifically and honestly, and He will grant goodgifts to us because our heavenly Father cares for us so much more than anyparents on earth could care for their children.  - P138

When we are confident inour relationship with the Lord, we also become more aware of the needs ofothers because we begin to love them as He does. God‘s Law was given outof love for His people, and we begin to live out His laws as we love othersas we would want to be loved. - P138

Dear God, I confess how quick I am to judge others and how hesitant I can be in prayer. As I remember Your great love for me, guide me in removing sinful inclinations from my own heart and in confidently seeking You in all things. In Jesus’ name, amen. - P139

"The willingness of God to answer our prayers is infinitely greater than our willingnessto ask-Oswald Chambers - P138
