17"You aren’t one of this man’s disciples too, are you?" she asked Peter. He replied, "I am not." - P40

25Meanwhile, Simon Peter was still standing there warming himself. So they asked him, "You aren’t one of his disciples too, are you?" He denied it, saying, "I am not." - P41

26One of the high priest’s servants, a relative of the man whose ear Peter had cut off, challenged him, "Didn’t I see you with him in the garden?"

27Again Peter denied it, and at that moment a rooster began to crow.

when the servant girl at the door questions Peter, he denies being one of Jesus’ disciples. While brave enough to follow Jesus after His capture, Peter is not willing to publicly proclaim his connection to his teacher.  - P42

When others question our faith and commitment to Jesus, we begin to see with greater clarity the state of our hearts. We may be tempted to respond with fear or selfishness and even deny our identity as followers of Christ. But may we not falter in our devotion. Rather, let us boldly claim our loyalty and commitment to Him. - P42

When we experience pressure or persecution, may we stand firm and follow the example of Jesus, honestly declaring the truth of God’s Word. - P42

Dear God, thank you for the example of Your Son, who told the truth even in the face of unjust suffering. May I not succumb to the pressures of this world but boldly proclaim my faith and loyalty to Him. In Jesus’ name, amen. - P43

The good news is that when loyalty is tested and proven strong, trust be-comes ever solidified. Peter is a great example of this. Although he falteredin the courtyard, the book of Acts shows that he later proved his loyalty andtrustworthiness as he boldly and faithfully declared the truth about Jesus. - P43
