The Lord reminds David that He is the one who rescued and appointed him as ruler overIsrael. He says that through David and his offspring, He will establish a houseand a kingdom that will endure forever. - P121
12 When your days are over and you rest with yourancestors, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, your own flesh and blood, and I will establish his kingdom. - P122
15 But my love will never be taken away from him, asI took it away from Saul, whom I removed from beforeyou. - P123
16 Your house and your kingdom will endure foreverthrone will be established forever."" - P123
When David seeks to make a house for the Lord, God tells him that Heis not a God that can be contained to an earthly dwelling place or controlled by man. - P124
By the end of these verses, God declares in humorousirony that He will be the one who makes a house for David. This willnot simply be a physical home; God promises to lay the foundationsfor a people, a kingdom, and a place of rest. - P124
Our God is uncontainable, yet He comes down to bind Himself with His people and make Hisdwelling place with us. - P124
We are now not only His people but intimately adopted into His family, and we celebrate the gospel of Christ thatmakes this all possible. - P124
