Vacationing in Texas, I borrowed my friend‘s car for a day to go sightseeing in Mexico．
His wife was to come with me, and I would drop her off to visit relatives before proceeding on my way．
At one of the international bridges between the two countries, a Mexican immigration official asked to see the title to the car．
"It‘s not my car,"I replied．
"It belongs to a friend." He looked at the woman and then asked, "You wife？"
"No, my friend’s wife."
With a wink in his eye he said, "Ah, what a wonderful friend you have!"
텍사스로 휴가를 간 나는 멕시코관광을 위해 친구 차를 하루 빌리기로 했다．
그런데 친척을 방문하는 그의 아내를 먼저 데려다주고 나서 관광길에 오르기로 했다．
두 나라 사이의 교량 한 군데에 이르자 멕시코의 출입국관리가 차량소유증을 보자고 했다．
"내 차가 아니라 친구 차입니다"라고 나는 대답했다．
옆자리의 여자를 보더니 "부인이신가요?"하고 물었다．
"아닙니다．친구 부인입니다"라고 대답했다．
그러자 그는 윙크를 건네면서 "댁은 참 좋은 친구를 두셨네요！"라고 하는 것이었다
