[오늘의 한문장] Hyacinth for the Soul

몇 작품 읽어보지 않았지만 작품에는 추억, 그리움, 그리고 여동생이 주로 주제로 쓰였다. 시의 주제로 쓸만큼 형제나 자매와의 관계가 특별하다는 건 무슨 느낌일까 궁금하다.

We are sitting at a wooden table in the livingroom. 
It could be a winter afternoon. 
Venetian blindsstripe the floor with sunlight. 
Our mother andfather are elsewhere off camera. 
You areembroidering in one of those pink plastic frames.
I am cutting construction paper with dull-edgedscissors. 
We hear the prick of the needlein the muslin, the cutting of thethe hiss of the radiator-paper,
but the hours‘ passing has its own sound,
its own iron taste in the mouth,
its own deepening light. 
The green wallsof the living room darkenlike a forest. 
We could betwo lost children farfrom home.

미국의 어느 한 지역에서 수업시간에 다윈의 종의 기원을 가르쳤다는 이유로 재판을 받는 Cates와 유죄라고 생각하는 마을 사람들, 그를 변호해주기 위해 온 Drummond, 그리고 종교를 믿지 않는 신문기자인 Hornbeck.

밑줄그은 말은 신문기자인 Hornbeck의 말.
나는 상한 버터일지도 모릅니다만 당신 편에 발라져있어요.
재미있는 대사다.

어딘가에 항상 사로잡혀있는 쥬제페가 여인 페치카에게 사로잡히고 페치카도 쥬제페에게 사로잡히는 따뜻한 이야기.
가을 낙엽을 보고 쥬제페가 5장의 낙엽을 주워 페치카에게 건넸다.페치카는 2장 자신의 가슴쪽 주머니에 집어넣고 나머지 3장은 쥬제페의 가슴에. 책 전반의 따뜻함을 이 부분에서도 느낄 수 있다.
