시작과 함께 다소 느린 속도감에 지루함이 있었지만,대동세상을 접하니 한결 마음이 훈훈해졌습니다.

사람들은 자기 부모 공경하거나 자기 아들만 사랑하지 ...

사람들은 자기 부모 공경하거나 자기 아들만 사랑하지 않는다. 다른 사람의 부모라 하더라도 나이든 사람들이 삶을 편안하게 마칠 수 있도록 해야 하며, 다른 사람의 자식들 또한 젊은이들에게 적재적소에 쓰일 데가 있도록 주선하고, 어린아이들의 경우 안전하게 자라도록 적극 보호해야 한다. 그리고 홀아비 · 과부 · 고아, 자식이 없는 노인, 병든 자들을 모두 부양토록해야 한다. 남자는 모두 일정한 직분이 있고, 여자는 모두 시집을 갈 곳을 정해 준다. 땅바닥에 떨어진 남의 재물에는 욕심을내지 않는다. 사회적으로 책임져야 할 일들은 스스로 하되, 반드시 자기만이 할 수 있다는 오만을 부리지 않는다. 이 때문에간사한 모의가 끊어져 더 이상 불의한 일이 일어나지 않고, 도둑이나 폭력배들이 생기지 않는다. 그러므로 문을 열어놓고 닫지 않으니 이를 대동이라 한다는 것이다."
초부거사는 한달음에 대동세상의 의미를 두르르 꿰었다. - P318

"저 달을 보거라 보름이 지났지만 아직도 불룩한 배를 내밀고 세상을 비추고 있질 않느냐? 달은 지역에 따라 차등을 두지않고 세상을 골고루 비춘다. 학문의 궁극적인 지향점은 바로저 달과 같다. 학문에서 단지 안다는 것은 한계가 있다. 그것을널리 알려 세상을 이롭게 하는 데 학문의 궁극적 목표가 있다.
따라서 머릿속에서만 존재하는 얇은 허접한 쓰레기일 뿐이다.
널리 많은 사람들에게 공감을 줄 수 있도록, 그 앞을 실천에 옮겨야만 참다운 지혜가 되는 것이다. 이제 그대는 저 동굴에서스스로 걸어 나와야 한다. 저잣거리에 나가뭍생명들에게 대동세상의 참다운 지혜를 전해 주거라." - P331

얼떨결에 아직기도 걸망태를 받으며 의아한 눈길을 보냈다.
"문화는 꽃과 같이 만방에 향기를 뿜어냅니다. 꽃이 그 아름다운 색채로 사람의 눈길을 끌듯이, 문화는 그 웅혼한 기운이선학들의 정신에 스며드는 것입니다. 그리고 만발한 꽃의 향기가 널리널리 퍼져나가 벌과 나비들을 불러오듯이, 문화의 향기또한 선학의 훈김을 통하여 후학들에게 전달되어 화합과 상생의 대동세상을 만드는 것 아니겠습니까? 어젯밤 아직기 선생으로부터 섬나라 왜국에 대한 이야기를 들으면서, 그곳이야말로 대동세상을 펼칠 수 있는 호조건을 갖추고 있다고 생각했습니다. 대륙의 경우 세상이 넓고 넓어서 민족이 각기 다르고, 나라마다 경계가 있어 전쟁이 자주 일어나므로 대동세상을 여는데 큰 걸림돌이 되고 있습니다. - P337

 학문을 익히도 더불어 사는 세상을 만드는 행동이 뒤따라야만 비로소 지혜롭다고 할 수 있는 것이다. 알겠느냐? 지식은 똥자루지만, 지혜는 황금보따리다. 똥자루를 풀면 채마전에 겨우 푸성귀 하나 정도 키울 수 있을지 모르지만, 황금보따리를 풀면 굶주린 서민들의 기근을 해결해 주는 구휼미가 되느니라" - P339

Dear Lord, though the enemy tries to scheme against You, I know that noneof Your purposes will fail.  - P99

I pray that you would give me strength and courageto stay the course as I serve You. In Jesus‘ name, amen. - P99

God loves to speak to every single one of His children. But in order tohear from Him, we need to be sensitive and attentive to His voice.  - P99

Inour relationship with our Father, we must learn to discern His voiceand create spacefor Him to speak to us. Another thing we shouldunderstand is that God does not communicate to all of us in the sameway.  - P99

The One who created us knows our heart languages. To some,
He communicates through dreams, to others through visions, and toothers through a still small voice impressed on their hearts.  - P99

But aboveall, He speaks to us through His written Word. God‘s Word is a loveletter to His children. Through it, He reveals His will to us.  - P99

The simplediscipline of studying God‘s Word will train us to be more sensitiveto His voice. - P99

20 He said: "Some Jews have agreed to ask you to bringPaul before the Sanhedrin tomorrow on the pretext ofwanting more accurate information about him.

A large group of Jews conspire to kill Paul and tell the chief priests and eldersabout their plan. Paul‘s nephew hears about the conspiracy and tells Paul.

When the commander is informed about this, he has his soldiers escort Paulto Caesarea that same night. Paul is taken to Governor Felix with a letter thatexplains the whole situation. - P101

Often God uses unsung heroes and their simple acts of courage toaccomplish His plan. Paul‘s nephew is one of them. His name is noteven given, but he saves the great apostle‘s life.  - P104

This nameless nephewwas crucial to ensuring that the good news continued to spread to allpeople. Because of him, Paul was able to carry the message of Jesus tomany important cities and rulers in the Roman Empire.  - P104

The kingdomof God advances through small steps of faithful obedience.  - P104

Perhaps youfeelyou have nothing to offer. But what Paul‘s nephew did required nospecial training or skills.  - P104

God only asks for our obedience to fulfill thetasks He gives us, whether they are big or small. - P104

In His sovereignty, God can direct powerful rulers and governments tofulfill His purposes. The Roman commander Claudius helped furtherthe spread of the gospel by sending Paul to Governor Felix in Caesareawith the protection of Roman soldiers.  - P104

This ensured that Paul and thegospel message would eventually reach Rome, the most important cityin the empire.  - P104

Given Paul‘s situation, his imprisonment, and the threatto his life, it would have been easy for him to get discouraged and losehope. But God is always at work.  - P104

We must never doubt His sovereignpower to fulfill His purposes.  - P104

Sometimes He works in ways we do notexpect, but we can always expect Him to be working. - P104

Dear God, You are powerful and sovereign over all things. Forgive me fordoubting that You can accomplish Your will through me and through thosearound me.  - P105

Give me the courage to obey and the faith to trust You to fulfillYour purposes through my obedience. In Jesus‘ name, amen. - P105
