13They asked her, "Woman, why are you crying?" "They have taken my Lord away," she said, "and I don’t know where they have put him."

14At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus. - P70

17Jesus said, "Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’" - P70

19On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!" - P71

20After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.

21Again Jesus said, "Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you." - P71

22And with that he breathed on them and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit.

23If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven." - P71

Mary clings to her teacher and does not want to let go, but Jesus has an important mission for her. She must spread the good news to the disciples: Jesus is alive!  - P72

We see not only that Jesus is present with His people but also that He calls us to participate in His mission. - P72

Without Jesus, they are afraid, confused, and doubtful, but Jesus’ presence fills them with joy, and He grants them His peace and the Holy Spirit.  - P72

When we experience moments of fear, confusion, and doubt, we, too, can focus on Jesus’ presence. - P72

We can experience the joy of His resurrection, which shows that He is truly the Son of God with the power to overcome sin and death. - P72

The goal of fasting is not to prove our righteousness but to receive more of theHoly Spirit. Spend time meditating on the gospel and know that Jesus has calledyou to receive peace. Invite the Holy Spirit to sit on the throne of your heart, andbe ready to obey His leading.
-Pastor Sam An - P73

5He bent over and looked in at the strips of linen lying there but did not go in.

6Then Simon Peter came along behind him and went straight into the tomb. He saw the strips of linen lying there, - P66

8Finally the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went inside. He saw and believed.

9(They still did not understand from Scripture that Jesus had to rise from the dead.) - P67

The tomb is empty! We sometimes forget the miraculous nature of this event. Jesus’ victory over sin and death is truly amazing! - P68

Because of Jesus, there is hope beyond the grave. There is life beyond death and the anticipation of heaven beyond this earth. - P69

When we meditate on this fact and allow ourselves to be in awe of the earth-shattering nature of this paradigm shift, we cannot help but praise the Lord for His triumph over the grave! - P68

John’s Gospel draws attention to the strips of linen and the cloth that was wrapped around Jesus’ head, intentionally pointing out that these were lying separately, still in their places. The attention given to these details helps us understand what truly happened because it might be difficult for some people to believe the miracle of Jesus’ resurrection. - P68

We see that Jesus’ body was not stolen in a hurry by grave robbers. The linens and cloth are lying there because they have been carefully removed. Such details affirm the truth of the gospel message. - P68

Jesus truly did triumph over sin and death for our salvation! - P68

When Mary Magdalene, Peter, and John encounter the empty tomb, theyeach have a unique way of investigating what has happened. Mary Magda-lene‘s reaction is emotional. She is desperate to know where Jesus‘ body hasbeen taken. John‘s reaction is analytical. He is cautious. Though he arrivesfirst, he lingers outside the tomb, allowing Peter to enter before him. Peteris experiential. He is direct and impulsive. He wants answers, and he runsstraight into the tomb to find them. Whether emotional, analytical, or ex-periential, all three of Jesus‘ followers wanted to know the truth. Eventually,
they will all reach the same conclusion: Jesus is truly alive. - P69

Habakkuk 2:3 NLT
[3] This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed. - P89

[19] "And so, King Agrippa, I obeyed that vision from heaven. - P89

31Now it was the day of Preparation, and the next day was to be a special Sabbath. Because the Jewish leaders did not want the bodies left on the crosses during the Sabbath, they asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies taken down. - P62

33But when they came to Jesus and found that he was already dead, they did not break his legs.

34Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus’ side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water.

35The man who saw it has given testimony, and his testimony is true. He knows that he tells the truth, and he testifies so that you also may believe.

36These things happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled: "Not one of his bones will be broken," - P62

37and, as another scripture says, "They will look on the one they have pierced."

38Later, Joseph of Arimathea asked Pilate for the body of Jesus. Now Joseph was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly because he feared the Jewish leaders. With Pilate’s permission, he came and took the body away.
- P63

39He was accompanied by Nicodemus, the man who earlier had visited Jesus at night. Nicodemus brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about seventy-five pounds. - P63

The soldiers break the legs of the men crucified with Jesus to hasten theirdeaths.  - P63

Jesus was crucified the day before Passover, on what is known as the day of Preparation. This timing is significant because the Jewish leaders did not want bodies to remain on the crosses during the Sabbath. So, the soldiers broke the legs of the two criminals crucified alongside Jesus to hasten their deaths. Jesus, however, had already died, so a soldier pierced His side with a spear to confirm His death. - P64

On this day of Preparation, Jerusalem would have been filled with people bringing lambs for sacrifice, a poignant parallel to Jesus’ own sacrificial death as the Lamb of God. - P64

Yet here, both Joseph and Nicodemus come forward. No longer hiding, they risk their reputations to honor Jesus. - P64

We so often fail Christ and miss opportunities for close fellowship with Him, then return to Him weighed down with regret. But this is precisely why Jesus gave His life: so that, despite our failures, we can come to Him in repentance and be restored. - P64

Being a Christian is not primarily about adhering to amoral code or performing religious rituals; it is about trusting the one whodied on the cross and rose again. - P65

As I read and listen to the testimo-nies of other Christians, the crucifixion takes on a deeper significance forme. It is not a mere theological puzzle to solve but a profound revelation ofwho God is. Jesus‘ crucifixion is an invitation, not just to think about God,
but to live and trust in the Savior who died on the cross. - P65

May Your faithfulness give me the courage to openly live out my faith. In Jesus’ name, amen. - P65
