9As for me, I will declare this forever; I will sing praise to the God of Jacob,

10who says, "I will cut off the horns of all the wicked, but the horns of the righteous will be lifted up." - P89

The psalmist praises God as the righteous judge who exalts the humbleand brings down the wicked. God declares that at the appointed time, Helwill execute judgment.  - P89

God warns the arrogant not to boast, as it is He whejudges. In the end, the horns of the wicked will be cut off, but the righteouswill be lifted up. - P89

The psalmist declares that God is in control, even when it seems that the wicked continue to prosper unchecked. Though we may not understand God’s timing, we can trust that He knows when and how to act. - P90

His wisdom far surpasses ours, and His justice will prevail at the appointed time. This truth is a source of comfort, especially when dealing with arrogant people who defy God’s ways. - P90

The world may seem chaotic, but God is not absent. . - P90

He is sustaining creation and orchestrating His perfect plan. Our role is to remain faithful, even when we face uncertainty. - P90

We can trust that God will bring justice as we wait on Him with steadfast faith and obedience - P90

Many people wrestle with the problem of evil. Why does God allow injustice to persist? The psalmist recognizes that God has the final word. He is sovereign and acts according to His perfect will.  - P90

The proud and wicked mayflourish temporarily, but no one will escape judgment. Ultimately, they willface God‘s justice.  - P90

At the same time, those who walk in righteousness willbe lifted up in due time. This truth should not only give us confidence inthe face of injustice but also lead us into a posture of worship.  - P90

The psalmistsings praises to the God of Jacob because He is both just and good. Likewise, our response should be continual praise because of the goodness ofour just God. - P90

"Nothing can successfully stop any act or any event or design or purpose that Godintends to certainly bring about." - John Piper - P90

Righteous Judge, I trust that You see every act of injustice and that nothing escapes Your knowledge. When I feel discouraged by evil in the world, remind me that You will make all things right in Your time. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen. - P91

The psalmist grieves over the destruction of Israel‘s sacred places. The enemies of Israel are not content with conquest; they seek to erase every traceof worship to the one true God.  - P80

In his despair, the psalmist wonders whythere are no signs or prophets from God to indicate when the suffering willend.  - P80

This lament echoes the struggles of some believers today, who face aworld that increasingly opposes God and seeks to silence the truth. It canbe discouraging to stand for God in a culture that rejects Him.  - P80

Yet, we arereminded that God‘s purposes will always prevail. Even when He seemssilent, He is still at work, and His faithfulness will endure forever. - P80

20Have regard for your covenant, because haunts of violence fill the dark places of the land.

21Do not let the oppressed retreat in disgrace; may the poor and needy praise your name.

22Rise up, O God, and defend your cause; remember how fools mock you all day long.

23Do not ignore the clamor of your adversaries, the uproar of your enemies, which rises continually.

- P85

The psalmist praises God‘s past mighty deeds, recalling His power over cre-ation and over His enemies. The psalmist remembers God‘s works, like thparting of the sea. He then pleads for God to defend His name against thosewho mock Him and asks Him to remember His covenant and rescue Hisoppressed people from their adversaries. - P85

When God delays in responding to our prayers, we can easily grow discouraged and impatient. We may wonder why He seems silent, especially whewe face hardship or injustice. The psalmist, however, does not allow his frugtration to consume him.  - P86

He goes to God and recalls His mighty acts, fromdelivering Israel out of Egypt to sustaining creation itself. As he pleads withthe Lord for deliverance from oppression, the psalmist reminds himself andall of Israel of God‘s faithfulness throughout history.  - P86

When we face mockery, oppression, and affliction, we can remember our history with God andbe encouraged that no opposition can alter His divine purposes.  - P86

Thoughthe world mock Him and His people, His covenant remains steadfast.
We can be confident that God is our provider, sustainer, and refuge, andwe can turn to Him in trust, knowing that He never abandons His people. - P86

The psalmist pours out his heart in lament. He feels as though God in His anger has abandoned Israel. The weight of divine judgment on the nation is evident, and the psalmist fears that God has turned away completely. - P80

Yet, in his desperation, he clings to the truth that Israel belongs to God. They are His redeemed and chosen people. This plea for mercy highlights the complex unity between God’s justice and His steadfast love. - P80

Though God is patient, He is also just, and He will not allow sin to continue without consequence. Yet, at the same time, God is merciful and quick to forgive those who genuinely repent. - P80

No sin is beyond His grace. - P80

When we turn back to Him, He welcomes us with open arms, ready to restore and renew us. - P80

Lord, in a world that opposes You, help me remain steadfast in my faith. - P80

When I feel overwhelmed by opposition, remind me that Your purposes will stand forever. - P80

Strengthen me to be a bold witness of Your truth, trusting in Your ultimate victory. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen. - P80
