1-5브살렐은 아카시아나무로 궤를 만들었다. 길이 1.12미터, 너비와 높이는 67.5센티미터가 되게 만들었다. 궤의 안과 밖에 순금을 입히고, 그 둘레에 금테를 둘렀다. 금고리 네개를 주조하여 궤의네다리에달되, 한쪽에 고리 두 개, 다른 한쪽에 고리 두 개를 달았다. 아카시아나무로 채를 만들어 금을 입혔고,
그 채를 궤 양쪽에 달린 고리에 끼워서 궤를 들 수 있게 했다.
6그런 다음 그는 궤의 덮개, 곧 속죄판을 순금으로 만들었는데, 길이 1.12미터, 너비 67.5센티미터가 되게 했다.  - P267

4-5 무엇인가 하겠다고 하나님께 약속했으면 즉시 행하여라.
하나님은 함부로 말하는 어리석은 사람을 좋아하지 않으신다. 서원을 했으면 지켜라.
서원을 하고도 지키지 않느니 애초에 서원하지 않는 편이 훨씬 낫다. - P527

7"그러나 온갖 망상과 환상과 공허한 말에 휘둘리지 않게 해줄반석 같은 기초가 있다. 그것은 하나님을 경외하는 것이다! - P528

10돈을 사랑하는 자는 돈으로 만족하는 법이 없고재산을 사랑하는 자는 아무리 큰돈을 벌어도 만족하지 못한다. 재물 또한 연기일 뿐이다. - P528

 물론우리는 하나님이 주시는 바, 자신의 본분과 그것을 누릴 능력을 최대한 활용하여 주어진 상황을 받아들이고 즐거운 마음으로 일해야한다. 이것이 하나님의 선물이다! 하나님은 바로 지금, 우리에게 기쁨을 나누어 주신다. 우리가 얼마나 오래 살지 걱정하는 것은 부질없는 일이다. - P529

Dagon was in the in the form of a fish from the waist down, hence the name,
and in the form of a man from the waist up. One must note that the LXX [theGreek Old Testament] mentions both hand and feet. - P17

At this pivotal moment, Nahashthe Ammonite enters the scene and is looking to make trouble for Israelas he gives the men of Jabesh an outrageous ultimatum.  - P72

How will thenewly appointed king respond? Saul burns with righteous anger againstthis enemy of God‘s people, and he gathers an army of over three hundred thousand.  - P72

This is a very different Saul from the man who hid fromSamuel. When the Lord calls His servants to a task, He will equip themboth spiritually and physically to carry out that calling. - P72

Having proven his ability to conduct a successful militarycampaign against the nation‘s enemy, Saul gains the support of all thepeople.  - P72

He acknowledges that it is the Lord who rescued Israel on thisday, and to celebrate this occasion, Samuel invites all the people torenew Saul‘s kingship and to worship the Lord at Gilgal.  - P72

When God‘sservants focus on God‘s kingdom and His righteousness, blessings over-flow into other areas of life.  - P72

Following the will of God will always leadto our gain and the joy of others. - P72

Father, You have never left me alone but have given me Your very Spirit to helpand to guide me.  - P72

They bringhim out and Samuel says that this is the man the Lord has chosen. But somescoundrels despise Saul and doubt that he can save them. - P65

Samuel announces to all the people God‘s words concerning the newera that has come to Israel.  - P66

The people might assume this to be cause forcelebration, but God makes clear that this move actually demonstratesIsrael‘s rejection of Him as their king.  - P66

There is even a sense that God‘schoice of Saul as Israel‘s first king is, in fact, a form of judgment uponHis rebellious people.  - P66

In our day, many Christians display a similar attitude, believing that changes 
in political leadership will solve all of ourproblems.  - P66

While systems of government surely have their role to play inGod‘s plans for the world, the truth is that God alone is our Deliverer.

As the people eagerly anticipate Saul‘s big reveal as king of Israel, heis nowhere to be found.  - P66

The Lord tells them he is hiding among thesupplies, and he is retrieved in an awkward, anticlimactic fashion-asif to illustrate the kind of leader that Saul will become.  - P66

His physicalappearance might impress the crowds, but they will soon learn thattall stature does not necessarily make a man fit for the high calling ofleading God‘s people.  - P66

As Christians, we are commanded to walk in amanner that is worthy of our identity in Christ.  - P66

Even if we are lowly inthe sight of the world, we can hold our heads high, for we are sons anddaughters of the King of kings. - P66
